good protection for painted rims
I wish I would have purchased a thin wall socket with sleeve earlier. The sleeve does a great job of protecting the rim. Thin doesn't mean wimpy. It works really well on painted rims.

Wall too thin
This thin walled socket does not hold up to 90 ft-lbs of torque. Mine cracked as I was tightening with torque wrench.

I bought it with the protective sleeve to not scratch my rims. It will not fit my rims with the sleeve on. The socket is a little thinner than the one i have so i have been using it any way.
