Astonishing illustrations - sweet story,

This review is from: Gorrión del metro: Spanish paperback edition of Subway Sparrow (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I first read Gorrion del Metro to my daughter in the English-language version. I recently purchased the Spanish-language version because she's in a dual-language program at her school and I'm always looking for great reading materials in Spanish. This is a simple story - a sparrow gets lost on a New York City subway train - and it tells how people from different backgrounds and languages find common ground, even without common vocabulary, to come together to catch the bird and then release it to freedom. The drawings themselves are captivating and astonishing, with fascinatingly different perspectives of the bird in the subway train. It really gets the reader thinking about how diverse people can communicate. I love it!
