5.0 out of 5 stars Buy This CD
This is a great concept and timeless recording from one of the greatest country singers of all time. It bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary gospel and will appeal to gospel, country and bluegrass followers. Recorded in the early 80's and just recently released on CD, this recording is as fresh and natural as this morning's dew. Shining bright on this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful singing but . . .
It's great to see this album available on cd. Any fan of Vern Gosdin - which should mean any fan of great country singing - will love hearing the Voice in fine form. However, I found the '80s production to be stiff, almost freeze-dried on some songs. Nevertheless, the lead and harmony singing are so heartfelt and beautiful, and the price is so good, that if you are at...

It bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary gospel and will appeal to gospel, country and bluegrass followers. Recorded in the early 80's and just recently released on CD, this recording is as fresh and natural as this morning's dew. Shining bright on this recording are the tight bluegrass harmony vocals which pepper up each tune and the slick guitar work of Ray Flacke. An exceptional effort !

5.0 out of 5 stars The sweetest strains from "THE VOICE", May 21, 1999

If you were raised on these old-time gospel hymns, then this album is for you. I vividly remember as a small boy singing most of these songs with the congregation in that little country church. But, quite simply, this rendition by Vern Gosdin just can't be matched. He is one of the best vocal artist ever and he really shines on this collection. The more you listen to this album, the better it gets! Truly, a classic!

This is one of Vern's greatest accomplishment's in my opinion. Track #3 is "I'll Fly Away" and he sings and plays it like no other. Another of my favorite's is "If Jesus comes tomorrow". He still adds his own style of singing to the gospel and it is absolutely an awesome collection. I have always been a fan of Vern Gosdin and this one is over the top. It is just another tribute to his extrodinary talent.

It has been quite some time since I ordered this item and to this date still have not received it. I have had no word as to the status of the item. PLEASE let me know something about receiving this item. I am looking forward to getting it but, would like to know why it is taking so long. (The Gospel Album CD) I have had this same item in the past and loved it. I'm sure I would again if I can just receive it. Also, one is a gift for someone else. Thank you, P. Martin

I had looked for a couple of the songs on this CD for some time with no luck. Very glad to have found them on the same CD. Great southern gospel with a little bluegrass, also.

This recording is very well done. Vern Gosdin was very gifted in bringing a song to life. He does a great job on these classic gospel tunes! His gospel music experience as a youth shines through.

Vern Gosdin presented some of the best "country" music to be heard. He was blessed with a voice that reached the heart. As my friend Willie Nelson said, "Vern had it all, when it came to singing a song."

Being a DJ for over 50 years, I consider the Gosdin voice and arrangements heard on this gospel collection to be among the best of his many wonderful "works".
