HOW TO SUM THIS AWSOME CD UP!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gospel Classics Series (Audio CD)
This is a great CD...I am only 19 years old and am a BIG fan of this group when Rosie Rozell sang tenor for them (he is my hero). All of this CD is with him singing tenor exept for the first song. Really, I do recommend this for anyone who is a Statesmen fan or likes good Southern Gospel Quartet music...or SG music for that matter. GREAT CD!!!!! They need to put out more like this one.

The Statesmen were the first SG group I listened to when I was first saved over 30yrs ago. The song "Unworthy" was my first solo soon after.. This group holds special meaning for me, and this recording is one I recommend. Anyone who is a fan of SG music should consider this a must-have...

Classic Southern Gospel at its Best,
By
This review is from: Gospel Classics Series (Audio CD)
The Blackwood Brothers and Statesmen with Hovie Lister used to make the Southern Gospel concert circuit on a regular basis, coming to West Monroe, Louisiana consistently. I grew up listening to such inspiring artists. This is a group that was part of creating a genre that has endured for a long time.
Hearing Rosie Rozell's rendition of "Oh What A Savior" gives you an idea of what a class Southern Gospel song is. A couple of Rusty Goodman's songs are in this collection, i.e., "I Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey Now," and "Who Am I?". Another great Statesman tune in the set is "How Long Has it Been?". This is a great addition to anyone's audio library! It's among the best in the genre. The authenticity is captured in this CD. It transports you back to the stage days of Southern Gospels' great singers. The lyric and harmony are awe inspiring. No wonder so many reviewers give it 5 stars.

You can't beat it! Southern gospel at it's best! One of the best groups you'll find, with some of their best hits. Four part harmony! Quartets with a high tenor and a low bass, and good melody line--wow!! I could listen all day! If you like gospel the "old fashioned" way, served up by a great group--buy a copy of this CD. Enjoy!

The title says it all, the gospel classic series and ther is no group that defines classic better than Hovie Lister and The Statesmen Quartet. A great collection of their songs, outstanding!
