This CD was impossible to find in local music stores or even online from local chains. With a couple of clicks on Amazon I found it instantly available at a great price!

I have many of the Oak Ridge Boys record albums from when they performed solely as a Gospel recording group. Their harmonies and choice of material has always been a joy to listen to. If you like southern Gospel music and wonderful harmonies, this album is for you.

The "boys" have never sounded better. Long time favoirites mixed in with some really neat old time gospel. You won't be disappointed.

The Oaks return to their roots,

I have always enjoyed the music this quartet has produced over the years, be it secular or gospel. They do not sing with as much range as other quartets do, but what they do, they do very well! This is a recording of remaastered standards done as only the Oaks can do them. My fav is "I Know What Lies Ahead."
Musically, this recording is outstanding. Their harmony is spoton but I gave it only four stars because this recording has tech issues. There is to much gain in this CD. While the music is powerful and insperational, it tends to come accross with a very harsh and overbearing sound at times. This is especially noticable in headphones. IMHO, I think that SpringHill could of done a much better job on the final mix. The last thing that this quartet needs is a sound engineer that feels the need to over embelish with volume to cover up musical imperfections that don't exist: leave that to the headbangers! All things considered, this is a very enjoyable recording with lots of catchy Southern Gospel sung by one of America's finest preimer quartets! |
