Wholistic Jesus prayers for the Earth within a "how to" book,
By xianisq@aol.com (Boulder, Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This is one of the most rare and unseen documents of this millenium. It brings us face to face with a wholistic Jesus who offers us a path to bringing in out Heavenly Father and Earth Mother. "Your Mother is in you, and you in her. She bore you; she gives you life." said Jesus He also includes this revoluntionary prayer:"Our Mother which art upon the earth, hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come, and thy will be done in us, as it is in thee. As thou sendest every day thy angels, send them to us also. forgive us our sins, as we atone all our sins agianst thee. And lead us not into sickness, but delvier us from all evil, for thine is the earth, the body, and the health. Amen. And they all prayed together with Jesus to the Heavenly Father and to the Earthly Mother." This is a MUST READ for Everyone!! Let this take us into the new Millenium as Christ guides us to the Taoist principles of balance with Native American resspect for the Earth Mother. Christian

Partial book only, buy the complete book instead,

This review is from: The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ (Paperback)
I have not yet formed an opinion on "The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ,", but I wish I hadn't bought it. It turns out that this book is only a portion of a larger book by the same translator. It saves money and time to go ahead and purchase the complete "The Gospel of the Essenes" (which includes "The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ") rather than the incomplete, earlier published version. The difference in costs between the two books is relatively small.

From the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls,
This review is from: The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ (Paperback)
Some of the most inspiring scripture to come out of the Judeo-Christian tradition. I have even quoted it on my Peace Miracles website (but we are not allowed to post URL's here, sorry) The vision described in the Essene scriptures is coming true today. Peace Be With You

This book deserves either 5 stars or none at all,

This review is from: The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This book deserves either 5 stars for being a true gospel or none at all for being a fake. I've given it three because I am still on the fence, and maybe I will eventually see through some apparent discrepancies. There are many reasons why I want this to be a true gospel account: Jesus commands a vegetarian diet, he is all about animal rights. He talks about discovering the laws of nature. He promotes water, air and sunlight as natural healers. He urges colonics, describes the causes of osteoporosis and arthritis. He even gives a no-bake recipe for sprouted wheat bread. He retells the parable of the prodigal son with stunning new details and turns the story into a lesson of obedience, physical healing, and forgiveness of sin. There is sublime beauty in the description of Jesus teaching by night and rising to his feet, bathed in moonlight as the clouds part.
The most obvious problem can be found all throughout the book. Beginning with the first page, Jesus talks constantly about not just our Heavenly Father, but our Earthly Mother as well. To say the very least, this latter personage is totally unique to the Gospel of Peace. Although it paves the way to Mariology, and even though Jesus leads a prayer directed to the Heavenly Mother, in all fairness, Jesus describes this entity in familiar terms that we would probably call "mother nature" or the planet, or the good earth. Any way you look at it, nowhere else in scripture is prayer directed toward such an entity, power, force or whatever it is. The Earthly Mother is not identified as the Holy Spirit, nor do I recall that the Spirit is mentioned in this book. It may be just as well. Can you image a new 4-person-in-1 God? There is also a section which is nearly identical to St. Paul's famous "love chapter" in First Corinthians 13. Well, maybe Paul forgot to give the original author credit when he said, "But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal....." Elsewhere in this book, Jesus says that burned, frozen, and rotted foods will burn, freeze, and rot the body. What, wait! Was there an issue with frozen food back in Nazareth or Galilee? In 1930, just seven years before this book was published, Clarence Birdseye sold his controversial quick-frozen food to the public for the first time. In this book Jesus (?) teaches a raw, uncooked, vegetarian diet that includes milk and honey. Most modern vegetarians would scoff at these last two items. Cow's milk is nature's perfect food if you are a calf, and when you get right down to it, honey can be seen as an exploitive theft from bee colonies. Extreme? Yes, but Jesus here is teaching a rather extreme diet, himself. "He" says we should all eat between one and two minas of food daily. This works out to about 20 to 40 ounces of food and, if you are eating only raw fruit and vegetables and forgot to include a couple ounces of raw nuts, seeds and raw grains, you would quickly starve to death on a sub-600 calorie diet. I did some experimenting and discovered that 20 ounces of shredded cabbage makes a really big, satisfying, serving of Cole slaw. Well, maybe it was satisfying because I didn't want to eat any more of it! Most of the teachings of "Jesus" in this book make perfect intuitive sense: eat locally produced foods in season, eat with fresh air, breathing slowly and deeply, chew until your food is watery. Eat slowly and prayfully, never eat when vexed or angry or when not hungry. He says to eat at high noon, and if a second meal is required, to eat it at sunset. Even though this would presumably be a much smaller meal, I wonder if complete digestion would have time to occur before sleep. He also says to "not wake" at night, nor nap during the day. The latter requirement could be a deal-killer for me and a lot of others. Curiously, he also says we should avoid any drink or smoke from Satan. Was he referring to noxious fumes from metal smelting? Certainly he could not have been warning his listeners against tobacco since it would be another 1500 years before Christopher Columbus introduced it to the Eastern Hemisphere. Overall, I liked this book enough to buy the complete version (The Gospel of the Essenes), which is four times as long and is said to have been completed after 40 years of additional translation. Correction: Book 1 is NOT included with Book 2 & 3,

Dear Readers: I just received Books 2&3 of "The Gospel of the Essenes". Based upon a misreading of the Table of Contents, I thought Book 1 was included with Books 2 & 3. In fact, the Table of Contents of "The Gospel of the Essenes" state that Book 1 (The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ) is published separately. Sorry about my previous comment(s).

This is such a great book to read. So much of our history has been lost in translation. This books is supposed to be some of the original texts. It's inspiring and full of love. Really quick to read and I didn't want to put it down.
