5.0 out of 5 stars i wish i had more hands to give it the thumbs it deserves., April 26, 2005

The first time I heard of Micah, he was opening for Crooked Fingers at a small brewery in my hometown. I bought his album and cannot stop listening to it. it should be noted that this was almost a month ago. favorites being: close your eyes, dont you (part 1&2), patience and caught in between. his voice is like a rocky gravel road. full of cracks but rich and real. he provokes a sadness and longing that i've found in few places.
everyone who's been in love and then out again should buy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Micah P. Hinson, August 14, 2005

Moving themed album of heartbroken love gone wrong, inseperable from Hinson's own real life suffering & struggle, as deep and affecting as Richard Buckner's Devotion & Doubt (although lyrically less prfound), of a sustained melancholic mood but lifted by the varied intrumentation and by the quality of the melodys

5.0 out of 5 stars A great young talent just getting started, June 25, 2007
This review is from: & Gospel of Progress (Audio CD)
On this Abileene Texas singer songwriter's debut full length, less is more. Hinsons haunting vcocals and beautiful guitar arrangements provide the perfect soundtrack to hangover induced hazy mornings. A solid follow-up to his debut ep (re-released by Jade Tree last fall), Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress is an exciting progression in the career of this highly talented performer. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Honest Music, November 10, 2006
I came across this cd while ordering another and decided to buy one based on the samples. I'm truly amazed at Micah P. Hinson's talent - he must be an old soul, as everyone keeps saying. I have since bought the other cd's and love them all. If you don't like music with sincerity, depth or an amazing singer, then you might agree with one reviewer, but otherwise I think you'll love this artist and cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it so much I 'bought' it twice!, November 3, 2006
This review is from: & Gospel of Progress (Audio CD)
OK, I stole this cd. I was briefly sharing an office with a music magazine and this cd was languishing at the bottom of a huge pile. No one seemed too interested in it. I liked the title, and the cover, so I 'borrowed' it.

First listen I wasn't sure, second I was interested, third I was hooked. Now, a year and a half later it is still a red-hot regular on my stereo. Don't worry Micah, I believe in supporting great artists, so I returned the cd to the music mag and told them to review it, then went out and bought my own copy. From the opening classic, 'Close Your Eyes', to the powerhouse of my favourite, 'Patience', this is one classy and brilliant album.

I have since found his first, and watched some clips of him online (he might sound old and weather-beaten but, surprisingly, he looks like a cross between Harry Potter and Jack Osbourne).

This is a fantastic album. Buy it and give it a few listens. it will stay with you forever.

Please tour Down Under Micah!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sober,Somber, Elegiac Songs, June 23, 2006

This collection of love-lost and the the anguished aftermath songs are hauntingly effective in conveying the soul wrenching and soul draining effect of a major relationship meltdown. Hinson's craggy voice is not an angel's but one of a guy who who has to-must let these songs out.The songs are basic but beautifully framed .The last track alone-The Day Texas Sank to the Bottom of the Sea- is worth the purchase. It's one of the most achingly beautiful, SADDEST songs, EVER.

this record is ace! having known micah for awhile now, recognition and acclaim for his talents are definetly no surprise. beautifully crafted writing and music. BUY THIS DANG RECORD! it should be available stateside sometime after the first of the year (which means lower domestic prices- not import). great gospel noir/ southern gothic business. be on the lookout for this kid- he's gonna be a popular superstar.
