With simple piano accompaniment you hear Willie's voice so strong and confident, so pure, so rich, and sometimes that nasal quality even sounds good. Willie's sister Bobbie has played with him throughout his career, but here, her talent is rewarding and this combination couldn't sound better. It was recorded in 1986.

The toe tapping, inspirational "Where The Soul Never Dies" and "Lily of the Valley" are the jewels on this CD. You can't help but sing when "Are You Washed in the Blood" plays.

The popular "Old Time Religion", a traditional song evolved when singers rode their horses from small town to town, holding singing classes, inspirational in nature.

The story goes that "Sweet Bye and Bye" was written by Webster-Bennett, and J.P. Webster made a complaint about his health and Webster remarked: "Everything will be all right in the sweet by and by." There, the phrase was born. Willie perfects this catchy tune.

This CD always lifts me up. It is truly an act of spiritual devotion. I love it! ...MzRizz

I just got "Old Time Religion" from ebay, and I am not disappointed. In fact I'm pleased that in addition to Willie and sis Bobbie, Bee Spears plays bass guitar (same as on Troublemaker), plus there are drums (Freddy Fletcher) and harmonica (Mickey Raphael). Nothing like the full band as on Troublemaker, but what makes this CD special to me are the featured songs.

All the songs are good, but my favorites are "Where He Leads Me", "Revive Us Again", "Sweet Bye & Bye" & "When We All Get To Heaven". Willie sings all of these songs though with respectful sincerity.

It's also kind of special that this album is out of print as of 1998, so you can't just go pick it up at a big box retailer.

This cd is great Gospel music by Willie Nelson. It is a great buy and I am waiting for Amazon to restock so I can order for my friends. You cann't go wrong on this cd/$.

This CD is a step between his "The Troublemaker" CD and "Gospel Favorites". While it has more instrumental and vocal support than "Gospel Favorites", it is not in the same league as his great "The Troublemaker" album. Originally recorded in 1986, this CD is a collection of old Gospel standards. Willie's performances are very good and his sister, Bobbie does a good job on piano. Willie also provides backing vocals for himself on here. All-in-all, a pretty good CD. I would recommend it.

This is my favorite Willie Nelson cd! I was looking for a cd with old gospel music and this was the answer. This is a great cd filled with all the classic old gospel favorites and played by the legendary Wille Nelson. Willie finds a way to to play these songs like nobody else could. Listening to this music brings back so many memories for me and I love this album!

Normally, I am not a fan of Willie Nelson at all. But one day I ran across a few songs from the CD, so I ordered it, listened to it, then, found myself contnually singing the songs from this CD! It has a magnetic drawing quality of "being real." easy to understand the words, and then simply sing along, or tap your feet along to the Praise they have for the Master, Jesus Christ. Simple? Yes. Good?
Better than good - we're talking the Philharmonic of Country here, Amen?
