This fake book has a very comprehensive listing of old time hymns, traditional spirituals, gospel songs of the past century and some contemporary praise songs. The type-face is small typical of fake books, and songs are crammed in. Lyrics and verses are included, as well as the chords. There is also a reference of guitar chord finger patterns at the end of the book. The entire book lays flat, having the plastic tabbed binding. Songs are listed alphabetically making them easy to find. Very nice reference, and songbook for all "C" instruments, as well as keyboards, vocals and guitar.

This is one of our family's favorite Christian song books. We use it pretty much every day. It is great for keyboard and guitar players. If you know chords it is great for the piano player too. (It only contains the notes for the right hand with the left hand chords to be played) All songs have the words to sing/Lyrics so you can sing as you play. It contains over 450 songs and gives you cues how to play the song. To play the song Tenderly, Prayerfully, Lively, Joyfully are just to mention a few. If you are looking for a song book to appeal to all types of people and skill levels this is the book for you.

I've had my guitar for a year and could only play a few songs and a few chords because I didn't have sheet music to go by. I broke down and bought a few books, this being one of them. It has helped me tremendously. I was able to pick up on a few more chords and play many more songs. I was also able to easily change songs to a different key to make it more chord friendly and I just did that by playing around with the chords I know. It is definately a good book for beginners who are looking for the old time hymns and gospel songs. I now play my guitar almost everyday and with 2 toddlers that's not always easy, but I really enjoy being able to play songs and sing along.

Thirty years ago I kept a book call "Invitation to sailing" and have taught a few dozen people to sail using this book. It's simple and teaches what the student needs to learn. I don't know how many books I have given out but I do this so they never get off track. GOSPELS GREATEST does the same thing. I have used this book for about 6 years and love it. Everyone I play with wants one so I keep a few in stock and when it's birthday or Christmas time I'm ready and so far everyone is happy. Most of us has grown up with these beautiful songs. We find ourselves playing them at house parties, picknecks and jam sessions. Many people still remember the words and sing along. What a wonderful book this is. Terry

This book is recommended by our churches piano player, so when I recently bought a keyboard to try to teach myself to read music and play my hymns and church music at home , this is the the first book that I purchased. EVERYTHING is in here,with the exception that you get the melody line,chords, words but no bass cleft, so some of you more experienced players may find this below your level. For me, its perfect.

Good collection for me to use to prepair to play at church. Found a number of clasics I was looking for.

Highly recommend-- I had the pews rocking when I played some of the songs in church.

I found this book to be a good resource for gospel music. For those needing repertoire to perform, it is filled with a large amount of music including many traditional tunes and gospel "classics." The music is a basic lead sheet with melody and chord progression listed above it. Being a novice into gospel repertoire, I found this book a good starting point.

This fake book covers the whole spectrum of gospels extremely well. My forty or fifty favorites are all in this collection.

I liked this book a lot. A lot of the songs I did not know so I just started at the front and when I came to one that looked good as far as lyrics go, I would go on youtube and search for it being done or if it was not there, look on Amazon mp3's if I just HAD to have it. I took the book and cut it up though in order to print our scores for personal use. I cut off the spine, took a slice of the top and bottom leaving page numbers in tact, and then I put it in a three ring binder with the cover cut to fit inside the clear cover. It worked out very nice and I wish I could buy music books in that format. This fake book was worth the money for me because if you buy individual sheet music online or in "artist songbooks", that can get pricey fast. Because I play Irish whistle and other chord based instruments it is refreshing to deal with sheets not scored to piano only.
