Intense, heavy, fast, and dark. A collection of tunes to throw in your car stereo for a lovely drive with the wife. More than what I expected, even though I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting. Casey Chaos is involved, so hey its got to be good.
But enough of this palaver, go ahead and buy it already.

Gospels for the Sick,
This review is from: Gospels of the Sick (Audio CD)
Being an on and off fan of Casey Chaos's main band, Amen, i've heard, over the last 7 or 8 years, everything he's had to say on basically everything. people are (), there's barely anyone who truly cares for anything anymore, everyone's a whore, the cops sucks and so does government and mainstream music is worthless and devoured by mindless drones. that's just wonderful, for one album. but when your entire career is based on trying to prove, mostly to people who couldn't care less, how insanely punk rock you are, your whole schtick gets old quick.
the band consists of members, aside from Casey, from Emperor, Windir and Turbonegro. i loves me some emperor, windir ain't half bad, but turbonegro has never been my kind of thing. their gimmicks are boring and not really shocking. ("oh, look, we're fat and gay punk rockers" wonderful.) the music is bland. there's really nothing more to say about it. if casey wasn't so devoted to proving himself all the time, i'm sure at least 4 of these songs could find their way onto some terrible 20th century fox action film. (hell, i happen to remember an Amen song being used on a Fox TV show by the name of Freaky Links, but i'm sure that was just the fault of the big scary evil record label.) the lyrics are nothing new either. Casey's repeating old amen lyrics at some points, and everything else is just rehashed ranting on par with that of a 10th grade goth kid. the sub-mediocrity of this album hurts because i know what an admirer of black metal Casey is, and you'd think with all the influences flowing into this band it would be a great chunk of harsh, venomous pissed off black metal. but it comes off more as a garage band who listen to nothing but Discharge and Turbonegro, and do a bad job of paying tribute. pass it up if you get the chance. Musicianship - 6 Originality - 4 Atmosphere - 1 Production - 7 overall - 45% (and that's being generous)

This isnt really what i was expecting. Still, its an awesome album. Just needs to be given time. Personally i prefer Amen, and Casey's the only reason i bought this. But thats not to say if you like Amen you wont like this.
