5.0 out of 5 stars Best one in the series!
School's almost over, and all of the characters of this Gossip Girl novel are stressfully awaiting their college acceptions (or rejections). This particular book is very full of suspense, and it really changes tone very quickly. It also confronts real issues with a I'm-a-spoiled-rich-kid flair. I won't give anything away as you may be planning to read it, but it is by far...

3.0 out of 5 stars Definitely "Worth It"
BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT is the fourth book in the Gossip Girl series. The catfights, breakups and shakeups continue.

This book is appropriately titled, not only because of the pop culture reference, but because we see a bit more of the characters one-on-one, without their significant others. For example, Nate attends rehab and manages to go from addict to hero...

But, if you haven't read the previous three, you would be totally lost, and I recommend reading them before you read this one. It's a really easy read, it only took me a day or so to finish it cover to cover. I can't wait for the next one to come out!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The fourth installment of guilty pleasure, October 18, 2004
In the fourth installment of Gossip Girl things are about to drastically change. These rich, beautiful, wild life Upper EastSide New York kids are still up to their backstabbling, malicious ways but this time life is gonna throw them some curveballs.

Blair is still waiting to see if she'll be accepted by Yale but after the whole interview mess and accidental affair with an older man things don't look so great, but meanwhile her obsession with ex-boyfriend Nate continues, though she is finding new avenues in her life, including letting go of her major Audrey Hepburn obssesion. Yeah, bet we expected that. Nate himself is turning over a new leaf after getting busted for drugs. He is sent to counseling where he saves a girl who overdoses. A drugged Snow White beauty would be a nice way to describe her and it looks like Nate's romantic status is headed in a different direction.

More emphasis is put into Dan and Vannessa's relationship, and less on Serena, though I find her increasingly annoying. Dan, the romantic poet gets his poem published in the New Yorker somewhat by accident and then meets a yellow toothed lady whom he goes off and has an affair with. Call that messed up!

Serena and Aaron are finally an item, but who knows how long that will last knowing Serena...Jen is moving on to a new man since Dan no longer seems to have time for her...Things are changing and the scandals/soap opera is getting weirder by the minute but the biggest question is still: Who is Gossip Girl? Could it be someone we least expect??? A definite must read though not as good as the previous few. Some storylines were a bit dull but still not one to miss:) Probably not your mother's favorite cup of tea but who can resist some guilty pleasure?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best One Yet, September 25, 2003
By A Customer
I have read the entire Gossip Girl series and I must say that this is the best one yet. While I admit that part of my intial appeal to it was the mention of a certain Orange Pigskin Hermes Birkin Bag, I have now grown to know and love these charcters. This is certainly not your average teen book. In addition to more sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll than ever, we see our favorite characters all trying something new. We witness college acceptances, rejections, and everything else. I would tell you about the surprises we see from Blair, Nate, Serena, Jenny, Chuck, Vanessa, Dan, and the rest of the upper-east side socialites, but I totally don't want to ruin it for you! Just get the book and read it! You'll be addicted, baby!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but more to come..., September 22, 2003

I am a die hard fan of these books. Of course i had this rushed to my house so i could read it. Like always i sat down and read the book cover to cover in one sitting. The book did give new twists and finished up some of the old twists but some how i didn't enjoy it as much. But thats ok since i read in the New York Times when they did an article on the gossip girl series that there are 5 more books coming! Yes 5 i could hardly contain myself since i thought this was the last one. Hopefully the next book will fulfill me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Focused, September 27, 2003
This book was far more focused than the last in this series, the previous one (All I Want is Everything) being the worst in the series. I would have to say this is so far the best and just miiight top the first one, which I enjoyed so much. This is definetly Blair's book and some things we learn about her are interesting...but there is not so much of Serena. Mostly Blair, Dan & Vanessa, Jenny, and Nate. It showed the characters in reasonable situations, unlike some previous laugable ones. In addition, the author seems to have proofread this one a little more carefully than those in the past. Although this series isn't wildly intellingent (or close), it is highly entertaining and addictive...just like gossip. The characters now have a little more depth and are far more respectable, even when they are at their worst. It's worth the read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better then the 3rd in The Series!, May 29, 2005
Blair still waiting for her letter from Yale to see if shes accepted or not after her first interview which was a disaster. Nate goes to rehab after found buying marajuana where he meets Georgia who he starts to like and thinks rehab isn't so bad after all. Serena and Aaron are finally an item, but who knows how long it will last! Dan gets his poem "Sluts," published in The New York Times and meets Mystery who he has affair with ending his relationship with Vanessa. Jenny finds a new love named Leo, and they become an item.

This 4th installment in the series is defenitely better then the 3rd! Recommend if you like The Gossip Girl Series!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Amazing Gossip Girl Yet, September 20, 2003
By
This long awaited fouth installment of the Gossip Girl novels lives up to it's hype. The characters all change in so many ways that if you haven't recently read (or re-read, as in my case) the past three novels, you might get them confused. While both Serena and Nate take the incredibly predictable route, Blair, Dan, and Jennifer most certainly do not. Perhaps this book has one too many twists and does not tie up all the loose ends by its finish, but it is incredibly addicting and teriffic nontheless.
The author said it best herself in the first novel : "Gossip is sexy, gossip is good. Not everyone does it but everyone should"

4.0 out of 5 stars guilty pleasure, May 12, 2005
It's like a guilty pleasure. Like, you know you shouldn't be reading it because your parents would kill you but you just can't stop. It's an awesome book. Anyone in their right mind would love this book. Plus, you get to have fun guessing who gossip girl is... It's such a mystery...

4.0 out of 5 stars STretCHes the Story line, February 21, 2004
By
The first two books in the series were good, but now it's just getting to the point where everything seems forced and loses credibility...
nevertheless, all my favorite characters are here: especially Blair and perhaps Serena. Jenny and Nate too. Serena doesn't have much substance and I wonder where she is going to end up next year. Blair will probably get into Yale and in a later book, begin shopping at Barney's for a new wardrobe to bring to Yale. I hope she becomes a law student. But you know what? No one cares about what Blair is gonna study, all they care about is how much better-looking she is than Jenny, how many times she can throw up and still look glam, and how self-absorbed she can really be. She's evil yet I totally love her because she's realistic and smart. Serena is just too much of a ditz for me-- will she ever settle down and find a passion of hers except for dancing naked on French Beaches, I wonder. I also wish Nate will settle down. The fleeting liasons are just getting too much for me!!!
