Arielle Schultz- best book ever!,

This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
Welcome to New York's Upper East Side. The sun is always shining, which makes it another perfect day to shop. Not that any other day would be a bad one. You're The One That I Want, a Gossip Girls novel by Cecily von Ziegesar, is an incredibly well written book that tells the life stories of a high school senior, Blair Waldorf, and all of her Upper East Side friends. As college applications start to arrive, and the word gets around, gossip builds up as the stakes are raised and friendships are put to the test. For example, the friendship between the threesome that's been together forever, Blair, Serena, and Nate. Ever since the 4th grade Blair has had her heart set on Yale, and even named her new baby sister after the university. Despite these wishes, she completely blew both of her chances to get in, and is losing sleep at night from her nerves. Without her knowing, her on and off boyfriend Nate decided what the heck, and applied to Yale too. Also not even thinking about it was her best friend Serena when she decided to apply. College application day arrives, and Blair and Serena decide to open theirs together. Big mistake. Soon after their friendship will go downhill, but now, once again will they be able to pull it back up? But hey, who cares about college when you have a love life to look after? Nate and Blair have been dating on and off since anyone can remember, and if you don't think they'll end up married, you're in the minority. One part of the book that really stuck out to me was when Blair was at Georgetown checking out the college and getting a tour from a girl named Rebecca and her little posse of three other bleached blonde girls that do EVERYTHING together. So that night they get Blair really drunk, and all five of them agree that Blair should be in their little "club". In order to be in this club though, you have to let the current members shave your legs and you have to die your hair blonde. Blair, although a gorgeous brunette, was drunk enough to let them do this to her, and realized in her morning hangover what a mistake she had made. Just goes to show you what can happen to you when you're drunk! The Gossip Girls are serial books that any girl of any age can relate to because of the little phases that each girl goes through, mainly Blair. Friendship problems, boys, and self consciousness are all things that every girl goes through, no matter how rich you are, and Gossip Girls is here to show us just that.

I had jumped right into Gossip Girl #6, after finishing #5 "i like it like that". I had high expectations after the hard-to-put-down last book in the series. It started off at a good pace, with Vanessa starting her new movie, Blair, Serena and Nate going through the troubles of college. Dan being his emo self, trying to win V back while enjoying his college acceptance. Then Jenny, who is off trying to become a model. Then the book started to fall, about half way through. Blair had acted not quite as I would have expected, moping around because of her wait listing into Yale. While I felt like von Ziegesar had lost what she had with the characters V and D. They seemed to of acted out of character with how they had been written before. Doing things I didn't feel quite comfortable seeing them do. Jenny was just running around wanting to be a model, while Nate and Serena seemed like the only characters to really stay in character. By the end, it seemed like V's movie had lost it's purpose and the characters had no where else to go. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I will keep reading the story, but after this book I just wonder what else can be done with these characters. Nate and Blair have finally done -it- and the final college decisions need to be made. I'm interested to see where von Ziegesar takes these characters next, and hope she reclaims herself with book #7.

This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
I recently started reading the gossip girl series and finished the first 6 books in 1 week!I really enjoyed this book as I did all the others. The best thing about this book is Nate and Blair finally "do it" but i couldn't help but feel sorry for Blair because no matter how hard she tries she always comes in second best to Serena. She and Serena both apply to a number of Colleges and Serena gets into all of them (including Yale) despite her bad grades and the fact that she got kicked out of boarding school where as Blair gets into one school and is waitlisted at Yale which totally breaks her heart. Nate gets into Yale as well and sleeps with Brigid his Brown interviewer so as you can see Blair is not the lucky one in this book. I would definetly recomend this book to girls who are just above twelve but I suggest you read the first five books first.

You're The One That I Want,
This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
I've been reading Gossip Girl novels since I was about twelve years old, and I have to admit that they're my guilty pleasure. Some feels that the books might be a bad influence on younger kids, and I agree to an certain degree. Parents should know how their child might be able to handle certain books. I had been reading books by V.C. Andrews that are worse then this. My mom bought me a book and said that this looked more interesting. For me the Gossip Girl books take me away from my simple lifestyle into something more extravagent and the author is not encouraging their behavior. The things written about are basically realistic and really happening, maybe not in the exact way, but lots of people you wouldn't expect are getting involved in the same things. Personally I love it, but I know that I can handle reading it without being influenced by the "negative things."

This sixth installment in Cecily von Ziegesar's Gossip Girl series wraps up a lot of storylines for Blair. Finally we learn which schools all the prepsters get into, Blair and Nate get together, and her new half-sister is born. Can life among New York's wealthiest teens get any better?Actually, yes --- at least for Blair. She does NOT get into Yale. Readers will not be surprised at this after sitting in on two disastrous interviews for that esteemed institution in previous books, but Blair is crushed at being wait-listed. Her "safety" school, Georgetown, seems tacky during her visit there. Serena, of course, gets accepted everywhere and now has to decide among Harvard, Yale, Brown and a host of other places, or if she wants to take a year off and try to act or model. She also picks up admirers at each place when she visits. Clearly, these books are more fantasy than reality for readers. Nate gets into Yale as well, and is courted by a few schools for their lacrosse teams. Blair stops speaking to him and Serena for a while because of their acceptances. Meanwhile, Daniel decides to move in with Vanessa (only to have another roomie join them and drive them crazy) and Jenny tries modeling --- with mixed results. While it may seem that plots from previous books in the series are being revisited, the designer details of clothing and New York life will continue to lure in readers. --- Reviewed by Amy Alessio

Another good, solid GG book,
This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
The main plot in this book revolves around college acceptance letters and what the characters plan to do with their lives after high school. In the beginning of the book, Serena, Nate and Blair meet to open their letters. Blair, whose main goal in life seems to be getting into Yale, is accepted only to Georgetown, her "safety school." Serena, on the other hand, gets into Yale, Brown and just about every other major university in the USA. Nate, likewise, is accepted to four universities. This whole scenario seems a bit ridiculous because Blair has spent her high school years slaving away in honors classes and doing community service work, while Serena and Nate have been to busy doing drugs and going to parties to focus much on school. Upon this Blair throws a temper tantrum, yells at Aaron, starts drinking, etc...In the mean time, Jenny is perusing her modeling career with a bit of help from Serena. Vanessa is adjusting to life with her two new roommates. Dan is still the troubled, lost soul her always was, even with a new residence. Nate is still a jock and a pot head. The character's college visits are also described. Serena, as always, is breathtakingly beautiful and mysterious, causing men to fall in love with her everywhere. What I really like about the Gossip Girl books is how well von Ziegesar intertwines the different lives and stories of her characters. There are always lots of little stories being told consecutively, lots of subplots, but the book is still very easy to read and a real page turner. The characters are all so different and yet they all stumble across each other's paths in clever and interesting ways. The only thing that really bothered me about this book (which is more exciting than the previous one, by the way) is Blair. At the beginning of the series I found her amusing, but there are times when here drama queen antics and constant bad mood can be annoying as hell. She's completely self-centered and everything always has to be about her. For example, I can understand how she might be upset about not getting into Yale, but that doesn't mean that Serena and Nate (who got in!) should be afraid to even mumble the word in her presence. Every time someone tries to console her about it, (like her mother,) she doesn't even give them a chance to say anything. She's especially rude to her mother, by the way, who's pregnant with her baby sister. Blair gets to choose a name for her sister, by the way, and chooses Yale like the egoistical teenager she is. Enough Blair bashing though. Overall, this book is a fast-paced and exciting read. Despite being the sixth book in the series, the ideas are still fresh and the twists are very clever. It's better than Gossip Girl 5 so...read it!

As usual, scandal and gossip never end in NYC...,
This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
Personally, I think this was the best book of the series so far...but I think I'm just getting a bit tired of the series. Cecily von Ziegesar's first two books were excellent but after that I think she just started narrowing the time frame between each book in order to prolong the series (in other words, make more $$$). Apparently there are going to be 8 gossip girl books-I think that it could have been done in 6 books.#5, I like it like that, was probably the worst book of the series. It had no point at all, despite one of the best looking covers! But no.7 (Nobody does it better) also looks fantastic, with a lime green cover, and will be coming out in April? 2005. This book is pretty good, full of unexpected twists. ***I don't want to spoil too much** but Blair's sister is born and Blair acts all cute with her. Vanessa gets two new roommates. Serena, as usual, is beautiful and mysterious and hooks up with different guys. Aaron isn't too much in the picture, which is disappointing. Chuck and his monkey aren't either. Nate is still the pothead he always was, and Jenny and Dan try out new gigs. Overall, best book of the series though. There are a LOT of changes (as someone mentioned, probably within a 2 week time)...so make sure to read this one! Plus, the movie is coming out next year!

Finally it is revealed what colleges everyone got into and which ones they didn't also certain people on a waiting list for some schools. This one is defenitely the best book of the series besides the first, I highly recommend this one! Blair's sister little sister, name Yale, choosen by her, is finally born! If you like Aaron hes not really in the picture that much. Jenny is now in the picture a lot in this book, with some new modeling she and Serena have been seen at a lot of places with each other and even photoshoots! I'm not going to spoil anything else so enjoy!

I enjoyed reading this book. Out of the 6 books from the collection, this one stood out a lot. It has it all from dramatic high school heartbreaks to the every day fights with your friends. You're the One That I Want will make you laugh at the silly things the Constance Billard girls do throughout their last semester in their senior year. This book is definately a most read. I can't wait til the seventh book comes out.

Gossip Girl- Your the onne that I want,
This review is from: Gossip Girl #6: You're the One That I Want: A Gossip Girl Novel (Gossip Girl) (Gossip Girl Novels) (Paperback)
I was very happy with the 6th gossip girl. I was so impressed. Usually series like this get pretty boring and pointless after the first few, but the 6th one was probably one of my favorites! She writes in such detail and she never forgets the un-solved stuff (hint, hint, Blaire being a virgin, her and Nate getting back together...). The only thing was that i got so into it that when it ended I was so disapointed. It seemed to have been so short because she writes like a chapter based on the timeline of an hour. But if you read the first gossip girls I definitly recommend reading this one. Its great. Jenny finally gets over Nate, and picks up a new hobby. Her and Elise finally stop being friends(finally, I hate Elise!). Blaire and Serena got there many college applications back. Blaire's mom has the baby... early! And Nate gets the guts to get back together with Blaire. And so much more gossip awaits inside....
