Infectiously Funky,
By Nick W (VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Got the Bug: Remixes Collection (Audio CD)
This album will easily come to be known as the K&D Sessions of Broken Beat. There was down tempo before Kruder and Dorfmeister released their groundbreaking album, but the Sessions brought it to a climax that defined the genre. I beleive that Got The Bug will do the same thing for Broken Beat. It is infectiously funky and seeping with soul. This will be the reference album for broken beat for years to come, not just another electronica album that gets cast aside after a few months.

Album of the year? could be!,

When people are talking about broken beat, they are most likely to talk about Bugz in the Attic. Because, sometimes it feels like broken beat equals Bugz in the Attic.
The new remix collections show's why. Original tracks by Amira, Macy Gray, Dwele & Slum Village, Vikter Duplaix, Amy Winehouse, Amp Fiddler, Jazzanova, Zero 7, Markus Enochson, Nitin Sawhney and so many more. All remixed by Bugz. At it rocks all the way! Every track is a stand-alone piece and is done with care and love. It's show's! It's a lovely album, heavily influenced by soul, as most of the tracks here are originally soul or nu-soul tracks. Full of vocals and broken beats. Often also some jazz tip. Defently one album of the year. |
