A Delightful Collection!, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Got Date With an Angel (Audio CD)
Please note this review is for the Asv Living Era label, 25 songs, NOT the Proarte label, 18 tracts, which has been incorrectly cross-referenced.
This is a delightful album. I don't know how ASV Living Era does it, but once again they have created a wonderful collection of 1929-1940 songs, this time by Hal Kemp & His Orchestra. The selection and arrangement of the songs is impeccable and the sound quality is superb. Every single song is a delight, so I'll just highlight a few, such as Forty-Second Street, Shuffle Off to Buffalo, Lullaby of Broadway, When I'm with You, This Year's Kisses and Remember Me? I highly recommend this uplifting CD. Thanks again, ASV Living Era, for your flawless compilations!
Note: Because this album is becoming increasingly rare and expensive, I would like to encourage everyone who loves good music to contact Amazon and request they offer "Got a Date with an Angel" as a download as well as a CD. I'm sure Amazon could work with the owner of the album to accomplish this. Originally, this compilation of 25 songs was very reasonably priced. We can all keep alive the romance and whimsical magic of thirties music by owning this CD. It's wonderful!
Also, if you enjoy music of this era, you will not want to miss the brilliant Ray Noble Orchestra with Al Bowlly as well as the wonderful music of Joe Loss, Eddy Duchin, Carroll Gibbons and 1930s Bing Crosby.
