2.0 out of 5 stars They Don't Have Hits
There is a serious problem with the album titled "Got Hits";many of the songs are NOT hits at all. Lets disect the album.

There is a serious problem with the album titled "Got Hits";many of the songs are NOT hits at all. Lets disect the album.
1.Kylie Minouge"Can't Get You Out Of My Head"A-.This one is really good and catchy, definetly a good choice.
2.Justin Timberlake"Like I Love You(Basemant Jaxx Vocal Mix)"B-.Not bad,the original was not only the REAL hit but much better than this.
3.Aaliyah"Try Again"A.Very good song but old, "Miss You" or "I Care 4 U" would have been more recent for a selection
4.DJ Sammy & Yanou feat. Do"Heaven"B.Decent dance tune, but the song was a hit "limited" to dance fans.
5.The Calling"Wherever You Will Go"A.Excellent track,it really gets to me with the lyrics.
6.Coldplay"Yellow"C-.I don't really like Coldplay,I find them boring. If they must be here, why not "The Scientist" instead?
7.Dirty Vegas"Days Go By"A.One of the best songs of 2002,it is simple yet powerful and haunting.
8.Moby"We Are All Made Of Stars"B.A small hit but the song is original and catchy.
9.Atomic Kitten"Tide Is High"F.Useless,British,teen pop garbage.
10.Blue"All Rise"D+.Just not very inpressive at all.
11.A.B. Quintanilla presents Kumbia Kings feat. Frankie J"Don't Wanna Try"B.Not my favorite track but pretty decent music.
12.Jump 5"All I Can Do"D.Same as #9.
13.Nivea"Don't Mess With The Radio"C.This should have been "Don't Mess With MY MAN" instead, which is a bigger hit and better song.

14.Mario"Just A Friend 2002"C.A minor hit that pales in comparison to the original 1989 Biz Markie classic.
15.O-Town"All Or Nothing"B.Very old song, still good though.
16.Jennifer Love Hewitt"BareNaked"B-.Decent, but Jennifer Love Hewitt was not a been chart topper in any way.
17.Nick Carter"Help Me"D+.Nick Carter has had a disappointing solo career with "music" such as this.
18.Lasgo"Something"A-.Terrific song but has the same chart problem as #4.
19.Paula Abdul"Straight Up"A.If Paula Abdul was not on "American Idol" would this be here? It is good, but a bizzare choice among the recent songs here.
20.Kylie Minouge"The Loco-Motion"B.They could have chosen a song frome the last DECADE at least, besides the song seems to simplistic for me.
Bottom line:**.This is that this album has a very poorly selected tracklisting that never quite works. It seems to be a cheap knock off of the "Now Thats What I Call Music" series at best.

My son got this after seeing the ads on TV. I feel bad for him and want to trash this one and buy others, which would be a first for me. There are a few songs that are worthwhile: "Yellow", "All or Nothing", "Help Me", and "Straight Up" (but why is "Straight Up" on a "current" CD?). I wish we had saved our money.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect pop album!, July 11, 2003

Wow, like the CD claims, this is definately the perfect pop album. These are all good songs and I noticed that most of the songs are from artists that aren't that famous and that's good because if you're like me, you can hear the usual stuff being overplayed on the radio and when you buy CD's, you want to get something that's not too overplayed. I love this album. Some good ones are Heaven, Aliya, Cold Play, Nick Carter (who by the way is soooo cute!), O-town ( haven't heard them on the radio since... a long time ) and my all time favorite female pop artist: Jennifer Love Hewitt. Now just because these artists aren't a great chart-topper, they are really good so don't be to quick to judge. And like I said before, "Aren't you tired of so many overplayed songs that you can just hear on the radio?"... that ends this review. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dynamite compilation!, March 30, 2005
This review is from: Got Hits (Audio CD)
Two years ago, I bought this album. It is still just as strong as any of the NOW compilations. It starts off with Kylie Minogue's hit, then moves on to the Justin Timberlake remix of Like I Love You. Aaliyah's Try Again keeps the album's energy up. Nick Carter's Help Me from his 2002 solo album is a smart inclusion here. The Calling's song is also good on here. Atomic Kitten's The Tide Is High is a nice remake. But the standout on here hat I play a lot is Blue's very catchy All Rise. Why this group isn't getting any recognition in America other than the UK and other countries is beyond me. They sound good on here and avoids the typical boy band cliches by focusing on the singing alone. It could have been a major top 10 hit in the US back when this album came out in 2003. Would have been just as popular as 50 Cent's massive hit In da Club that same year. But American record labels passed on this group. Liked the inclusion of some 80s hits--one of the few albums to have Kylie Minogue's first ever hit from 1988 as well as her hit from 2002. A rare and creative move on the compilation producer's part. I liked Paula Abdul's Straight Up on here, obviously capitalizing on her success on American Idol as one of the judges. It's smartly done and balances well with the 2002-2003 songs that make the majority of the album. Very entertaining for all of its 76 minutes! Play it during a long road trip on the interstate--it will charge you up with its high energy, like it did for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Pop Collection, April 14, 2003
This review is from: Got Hits (Audio CD)
Previous reviewer was a tad touchy. This is a very nice and smooth compiliation of rocking pop classics, suitable for home listening or for heavy rotation in a family friendly environment, like a swimming pool or a birthday party. You wont find deep meaning here, but thats the point!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT CD, April 24, 2007
This review is from: Got Hits (Audio CD)
I LIKE THIS CD OK. ILL ADMIT ITS NOT MY FAVORITE CD. IT HAS OTOWN, BSB, PAULA ABDUL, AND KYLIE MINOGUE. WHERE'S NSYNC???? THEY WERE HUGE POP STARS. I LIKE THAT THEY INCLUDED SONGS FROM THE PAST LIKE "STRAIGHT UP", AND "LOCO MOTION". IT SHOWS THE HISTORY OF POP MUSIC. THIS CD IS ALSO GREAT FOR KIDS PARTIES. POP MUSIC FAN MUST HAVE.

I didn't even know this CD existed. I saw it in a store yesterday and knew some of the songs on it were good, and so I bought it. Wow! This CD is SO GOOD! It has a lot of pop songs that are really good! I espescially like the Jump 5 song All I Can Do. It's a very good song, if you've never heard it before. Well, buy this CD. I highly reccomend it.
