5.0 out of 5 stars Charming
.
This book is absolutely charming. Francine and Jack's story comes across beautifully from their first momentous meeting to their very last kiss.

I loved the fact that they had great sexual chemistry, while at the same time the entire relationship wasn't based entirely on sex. Sex is fine. I enjoy it when romantic novels explore sexuality between the characters...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tried too Hard at the Humor...Very Disappointed...
Man am I disappointed with this promising book. I mean, wrestling and romance and humor, I thought this was a sure winner, but soon I became bored and downright disappointed. I am a huge wrestling fan and watch it every week and enjoy the storylines, ect., so I figured I would love this book set about around the same thing, wrestling and the storylines used in the shows...

This book is absolutely charming. Francine and Jack's story comes across beautifully from their first momentous meeting to their very last kiss.

I loved the fact that they had great sexual chemistry, while at the same time the entire relationship wasn't based entirely on sex. Sex is fine. I enjoy it when romantic novels explore sexuality between the characters. However, lately all I seem to read is entire books where all the plot action takes place between the sheets. It becomes tired and boring. Great conversation between the characters is much more appreciated.

Francine and Jack come across like real people. The pace of the book is great, the relationship angles are all fully explored, the plot is well thought out and unhurried, and the love that grows between Francine and Jack is refreshing.

Frankie McGee is an accountant with a prestigious Boston firm. Her life for the next ten years is very carefully planned out down to where she will vacation for the forseeable future. (...)Frankie has one unpredictable factor in her life, her Uncle Joe. Joe runs WHAK, Wrestling Heroes and Kings, a professional wrestling enterprise. He is in financial trouble and knows that Frankie will never say no to him, so he asks for her help. Somehow, Frankie goes from the books to the ring as the Tiger Lady, fake wife to wrestling star Black Jack Hudson. Jack isn't any happier about the situation than Frankie, but Joe pressures them both into continuing the charade.

This is an incredibly funny book with truly unique situations and characters. I can't wait to read the next one. I love an author with a sense of humor.

I loved this book. The hero is a hunk, the heroine is darling and convinging in both personalities, and the secondary characters are great.

Ms. White writes with great humor. She is truly a rising star.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny romance, August 28, 2003

Mild mannered accountant Frankie McGee agreed to use her business knowledge to help her beloved uncle save his professional wrestling association. She hadn't counted on her uncle putting her in a masked tigress outfit and sending her into the ring when one of the female wrestlers didn't show up. World champion wrestler Black Jack Hudson wanted out of wrestling, not a new female partner. He's sure he can scare off the timid woman in the tiger outfit but from their first match together when the tigress hits him over the head by mistake (she was aiming for his opponent) and knocks him out, Jack is fascinated by his partner. The problem is, Jack is also fascinated by the boss' uptight niece Frankie.

I'm not a pro wrestling fan but I liked this book a lot. It was interesting to watch the two sides of Frankie's personality. Jack was a very sexy and sympathetic hero who had real depth. There were a lot of funny scenes in the book, as you can image with this unique setting. Don't let the pro wrestling venue scare you off. This book is very good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tried too Hard at the Humor...Very Disappointed..., August 12, 2003

Man am I disappointed with this promising book. I mean, wrestling and romance and humor, I thought this was a sure winner, but soon I became bored and downright disappointed. I am a huge wrestling fan and watch it every week and enjoy the storylines, ect., so I figured I would love this book set about around the same thing, wrestling and the storylines used in the shows with a little real life romance added.
It started off very funny and promising, then took a slow nosedive about third chapter and just kept going and even picked up speed until in the end I was staring at the book in confusion. What happened? I asked myself. It was so funny and true to form in the shows! The author obviously watches the shows too and her knowledge shows through. So where did it go wrong?
I think it happened when she made the hero Black Jack Hudson too cartoonish and brawny to the point of not being real. I couldn't tell where he began and where the wrestler persona began. It was too meshed. He sort of came off as (wince) big and dumb. Sorry Ms. White. I think I know what she was trying for here with him, but it didn't come out that way, at least to me.
The heroine Frankie was a little too...(again wince)airheaded and also cartoonish that I felt she needed a shrink. Ugh, I hate being so critical, but I felt like I wasted [$$$] on something I barely could get through.
....
This one is better getting used or borrowed.

4.0 out of 5 stars frenzied wrestling romance, August 5, 2003
This review is from: Got a Hold on You (Mass Market Paperback)
Finance expert Frankie McGee takes a leave of absence to help save her Uncle Joe's in the red professional wrestling business. However, she learns the business from the inside when the six-foot giantess portraying the amazonian character Tatiana the Tigress leaves for Hollywood just before a critical performance. Frankie takes over the role.

Wrestling superstar Black Jack Hudson is nearing retirement time, but would like to out with one championship belt. However, his wrestling partner, the masked Tatiana, looks great, but to Jack she does not know a wristlock from a wristwatch (paraphrasing Gorilla Monsoon on Ali). Driving him even crazier, Jack finds he is attracted to two women, his partner and Joe's dimes could not drop from her butt niece who demands he renew his contract.

This wrestling romance takes off faster than a flying drop kick from the first moment that Frankie learns about egos and feathers. The story line continues at this frantic pace through airplane spins and the off the rope antics of the cast. Though the characters are never developed outside the ring as much as their wrestling personas come across, fans of frenzied romantic romps will enjoy this off the top rope tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pleasure, November 16, 2003

It's hard to find the perfect read after a long day at work. Not a literary challenge and not innanely boring, the perfect read should be entertaining and engrossing. Got A Hold On You was just right, not too soft and and not too hard. I found Frankie to be realistic and fun and Black Jack, well, let's just say, he was great to fall asleep with.
I hope this author produces more of the same, soon!

You do not need to be a wrestling fan to enjoy this book.
This book covers a mysterious relationship of a man deeply in love with two women. It is a book all men and women should read as it will give you a whole new perspective on love and romance!

Look for this book to become a TV movie.

A friend of mine lent this to me to read, and being out of reading material at the time I decided I had nothing to lose,

Awful - absolutely awful. Predictable, empty-headed fluff. I ploughed on through it, but it was more of a sense of wanting to get it over with than wanting to see how it ended. THAT, I could see a mile away.

Save your money, folks!
