Fun!,
By
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
I purchased a duct tape wallet at a craft fair last year for fifteen dollars and am still surprised at how sturdy and functional it is! So when I came across "Got Tape?: Roll Out the Fun With Duct Tape!" at my local bookstore, I had to have it. The first thing I did with this great book, is make a new bright purple duct tape wallet. Then, I fashioned an awesome matching purse (using purple and traditional silver duct tape) that gets compliments everywhere I go. Duct tape is so easy to work with, comes in wonderful colors and is sturdy enough to last a long time. If you've been thinking about making your own duct tape creations, "Got Tape?: Roll Out the Fun With Duct Tape!" is a great place to start. You'll be amazed at how quickly you can make the projects. Did I mention that the wallets make fantastic gifts? Every one of my friends has loved receiving one!

Saw Ellie on Caroline Rhea show and loved it!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
I just saw Ellie (the author) on the Caroline Rhea show yesterday and didn't hesitate to get myself a copy of her book and a few rolls of duct tape. My kids absolutely loved it! We made crowns, wallets, sandals, glasses and even tried making a pair of shorts (not in the book)last night. It was so much fun...and so inexpensive!

Sticky Situation,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
I made duct tape wallets with my youth group. we got the idea from this book. The directions were hard to follow and by the time we finally figured it out, we had a very sticky situation. the tape stuck to everything. No one had fun. I heard some people say that this book is easy to understand, well, it's not. The directions say things like rip into three strips. Then place one strip sideways and sticky side up. Then put another strip upside down ontop of the stip with the other one. it may sound easy, but once you read all the direstions, it is hard. the pictures aren't much help either.

Great for Teachers,
By Becky Dekker "Becky" (Southern Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
My high school students loved the design unit I taught based on the elements of design by creating accessories with duct tape. Written by a high school student who was also bitten by the duct tape bug, makes this book very relevant to teens. In fact, they got so involved they worked till the bell rang and had to hurry to their next class.
The projects are relatively simple and the instructions are easy to follow. There is a variety of projects from wallets and purses to can holders and a tie for her dad. This is a great starter book for the duct tape enthusiast. The price is very reasonable. Who knows, maybe your teen will get hooked and win the Duck Tape Prom clothing scholarship. Becky

An amazing book which brings you through the steps to making wallets, hula skirts, tiaras, sandals, belts and even clothing...with just duct tape--something we all have around the house. I really recommend it--it's a lot of fun and surprisingly useful

A Must For Intrested Duct Tape Amateurs!,
By
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
When I first saw this book I was intrested in but compleately inadept with duct tape. This book gave me ideas, inspiration and instructions.
It really helped me get going, and I am now much better with duct tape and have even compleated several pieces of costume clothing! Don't get me wrong, using duct tape and making it look nice take a lot of effort. Learning to make your duct tape creations look great will take a lot of patience and a lot of time you can dedicate to it until you get the hang of it you will have to make things over and over so they will look good. If you are willing to spend the time (and duct tape) to make things it's a ton of fun and is definently worth the effort when you finish your first creation. I'd recomend this book to ages 9 and up.

FAB-U-LOUS,
By Emily (New York, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Got Tape? (Paperback)
I saw this arts and craft genius on TV and was a little skeptical at first...I mean come on, duct tape?? BUT, I was pleasantly surprised at how creative, fun and practical the crafts were! Ellie truly is a creative crafts GURU, and I don't use that term lightly! I made a duct tape skirt and wore it to an interview for a big New York corporation and was hired on the spot. They said they loved the uniqueness of the skirt. Then I went out to celebrate with my friends, and met my future husband, who said he only talked to me because he was attracted to the skirt! THANKS ELLIE!!

"Got Tape" is a lighthearted, detailed introduction to working with duct tape as a craft medium.
The author covers a number of interesting projects, including a wallet, purse, duct tape clothing, flip flops, CD holders, and more. Lots of nice illustrations and suggestions for personalizing or adapting other concepts are included. As with any of the books I've seen on duct tape crafting, be SURE to follow the instructions for handling duct tape and creating duct tape "sheet" (like paper or cloth sheet) first, BEFORE you try any of the more difficult projects. It will make everything go more smoothly. Also be sure to master the easier projects first, before jumping to the wallet, purse, or clothing. It will save you time and frustration.

Duct Tape is cheap..and it's available in a wide array of colors now too.
My daughter got this book from us for Christmas, along with about 5 rolls of tape that I bought separately. She LOVES this book. It has about 25 different crafts...including clothing, glasses, and hats you can make from tape. Great fun! She spent several hours making things. |
