Wanna Really Know About Pac!,
By jcl610@hotmail.com (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Got Your Back : The Life of a Bodyguard in the Hardcore World of Gangsta Rap (Hardcover)
I have to tell you I truly could not put this book down. If you really want to know what it was really like to kick it with Pac. Frank gives a really good description of what it was like to be with & look out for Pac. I also read the book by Cathy Scott, however this book is on a whole other level, it doesn't really talk about theories & all the other hype it just talks about being with Pac, honestly reading this book almost made me feel like I was there; and to Frank, you can't hold all that guilt inside you forever, I truly believe you when you say it was out of your control, you were right things just started coming too fast at Pac, he can't fight all the wars & either can you, it would have caught up to him sooner or later, he knew that, & you know he ain't mad at cha!Peace, Late, Out!

wow! pac ! In retrospect, I think what stands out most about the book is the fact that it's told by someone who understood tupac, unlike all the writers currently looking to score off his name. He instead offers a blow-by-blow (literally) account of tupac's last few months on earth . If you think you would like to know the real Tupac Shakur, read this. It presents you with the real Tupac and you'll be glad you bought it. As a sidenote, read around page 83 first. Rest assured there's one part of tupac that the media never got to show ;) Rest In Peace ,pac.

Tupac, the Person,
By Bryan Moscoso (New York ,NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Got Your Back : The Life of a Bodyguard in the Hardcore World of Gangsta Rap (Hardcover)
I've always enjoyed Tupac the rapper. The Thug Life, all that. I knew everything about his life. I related to all his lyrics, coming from the projects of NYC. But after reading this book i not only understood Tupac better, but i got to know the real Tupac, the person. The Tupac who showed love to all his fans, and just a plain down to earth dude that had a loving heart. And i think if your a huge Tupac fan, this book is for you. And to Frank Alexander where ever you are I understand, it wasn't your fault. In Memory of Tupac, Only God Can Judge You, Revelation 20:12.

The two books that did Tupac any justice are "The Rose That Grew From Concrete" by Tupac, and "Got Your Back" by Frank Alexander. Thank you Frank for a book well written. May God bless you and your family! Thug Love.

This is an excellent book. I highly recommend reading this material if you are a true fan of the late 2Pac Shakur. If you have the slightest thought of buying it, then do so because it will blow your mind how a talented young man became so obsessed with money and girls. He was also a bright lyricist that could be so gregarious and was so efficacious in his work.

Not about Tupac, it's about Frank Alexander,

This review is from: Got Your Back : The Life of a Bodyguard in the Hardcore World of Gangsta Rap (Hardcover)
This book rambles on about how great a bodyguard the author is. It's drivel and a work of self-congratulation. And it excuses himself for NOT watching Tupac's back like he was paid to do. A waste of paper. He trashes Death Row, praises himself, brags about going on road trips with Tupac and brags about Tupac's escapades with women ('course, Alexander didn't participate -- yeah right). Brag, brag, brag about blah, blah, blah.

I really like the way frank alexander wrote about the different aspects of tupac's career. He brought out a whole different side of tupac that no one had ever seen. But after reading the book I felt like I knew tupac myself. I could always picture tupac when I closed my eyes but now I have the book to read whenever i think about how he was such a hero to me and millions of others.

I had a chance to meet with the author myself before this book came out. And I feel that it was an honest perspective to a situation that was not concivable or foreseen. Not many people try to give their honest opinion of anything. They only want to make a $ and move on. Thank you very much, it open a lot of eyes and hearts. great sucess

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know who the REAL Tupac Shakur was. He was not the mean, violent hoodrat that society made him out to be. Frank does an awesome job describing what it was like to work with Tupac, work with Death Row, to attend the glamarous parties, the meetings and social get-togethers. He also explains what really went down on that fatal night in Vegas and how Suge and everybody else chewed him out about it afterwards. Major props to Frank for holding his head up, taking the heat and writing this book. Does anybody have Frank's address or know where I can write him? Thanks....

Suge Knight Is Hiding Something,
By A Customer
This review is from: Got Your Back : The Life of a Bodyguard in the Hardcore World of Gangsta Rap (Hardcover)
It's all very interesting because Suge Knight paid for this book to be written. How much did he pay Frank Alexander to take the heat? Why did Suge blow away Tupac? Who else knows about the Vegas assassination? Snoop maybe. These are the questions you have to ask yourself when you read this book. As Snoop Doggy Dogg said, "The Game Is To Be Sold Not Told" Thanks Suge for some good pulp fiction.
