I've been waiting on this book since I preordered it Jan. 2007. I received it on the June 7th and finished it the same day. It will make you laugh,cry and be thankful of life. My heart goes out to the Levert Family please stay stronger. Martha Levert you were so blessed to such loving children especially Sean and Gerald.To Gerald loving keep children keep being prayful only he knows your pain.

I have been waiting for this book since I heard about it. I got it on the 5th of June, and here it is the 7th of June and I'm done. It is a wonderful, wonderful book. I love the relationship between Gerald & Eddie. Now that dvd's are the thing. I have a vhs tape that I recorded of Gerald & Eddie singing "Wind beneith my wing" I will not get rid of those vhs tape until I find that tape. Every father & son, Mother and daughter should read this book. I can't tell you how much it has changed my way of thinking. My heart goes out to Eddie for the loss of his son, best friend and business partner. My prayers are with you and your family. And Martha you did a wonderful job. I wish my son felt the same about me the way Gerald felt about you. God Bless you all.

Eddie, I truly enjoyed getting to know you and your beloved son, Gerald while reading "I Got Your Back." Gerald has been a "friend in my head" for some time now, but feel like I've gotten to know him for real. I still can't believe he's not here with us to hear all the praises for all of his hard work. You are amazingly strong (I know it must be hard), but keep your head up for you other children and grandchildren who still need you too. You were amazing on the BET Awards last night. I read this book in 4 hours and I loved it. I felt as if I were in the room with Eddie and Gerald while they were telling their stories and I could visualize everything they were saying. I have never read a book in such record time in my life. Once you pick it up you will not want to put it down until you are finished. I love Lyah's introductions in every chapter. I also like the use of Eddie and Gerald's songs in the chapters. I appreciate the honesty of Gerald and Eddie. This book was very tasteful and it got the point across without being scandalous or offensive. This book is about father and son geared toward father and son, but we can all take a message from them and be honest with each other and ourselves. Loving you always G.

This book arrived on time as promised and in good order. I appreciate the vender's honesty in the representation of this product. I hope to do business with them again.

I love eddie levert as well as gerald levert I enjoyed the read and realize they shared a special relationship I will proudly add this book to my biography collection

I just received this book on Monday, December 17, 2007 and I finished it today. This is a lovely book to give to anyone as a gift. Regardless of how famous Eddie & Gerald Levert became as music artist. The family bond is powerful. The relationship of father and son is awesome. The mother of Eddie's children is given the utmost respect of how she held this family together with her love and strength. I'm a single mom and I learned so much about my own relationship that I had with my father when he was alive and the relationship I'm developing with my daughter.

I thought this was a very poignant novel it's goes through the ups and downs of their relationship and also what it's like to be in the music business. Although Gerald Levert will be missed his memory will carry on thru. Put it on your miss read list.

This is a MUST READ for everyone. It is so compelling that once you start reading, you can't put it down. I was deeply moved by lessons learned by Eddie Levert, and I was enlightened by Gerald Levert. This sheds a positive light on the black male figure in the household. Through all of this, Eddie always continuously puts his first wife on a pedestal. There was no ill feelings in this book directed against anyone. This book told the history of the O'Jays, and life on the road. It also displayed that Gerald was still looking for his future Mrs. Gerald Levert. All I can say is the Gerald died too young, but the Levert legacy lives on. The comments made by others regarding the O'Jays, Eddie and Gerald Levert are worth savoring.
