4.0 out of 5 stars Esta pegao!
With Gotcha, DLG is showing that they can cover all styles, up to and including bachata. Each album impresses me with the ease in which they handle, blend, and move back and forth between salsa, R&B, hip hop, house, reggae, and now bachata. The neoyorkino feel for all these flavors is evident, and they seem just as strong with any of the styles. My favorites...

2.0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
This CD is a joke, so full of silly and childish moments that I'm embarrased to play it. It is one thing to be creative, it is another to simply throw in all sorts of musical ideas without a sense of how if affects a song. They had promise, but this is sad.

Fraga's raps flow seamlessly on that last track, and Huey and James always show and prove. Plus I think it's dope that they're bringing Chika and Cyndi to the forefront as well, letting them show skills. The result is a CD that's got something for everyone and can turn you on to different styles that you may not have been a fan of previously. Chacho, este CD esta pegao!

5.0 out of 5 stars DLG got a hook on me, por supuesto!, October 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gotcha (Audio CD)
I have all three of these guys albums and am proud to add Gotcha! to my collection. All I got to say is they better be nominated for a Grammy this year, and they better win. The only song I can complain about on the album is Angeles, the cheesy theme song from the Telemundo "drama." It sounds like a cheesy knock off of the "Love Boat" theme. Just skip that one and listen to the other nine songs. Volvere makes me cry, Acuyeye makes me tap my toes, Gotcha! makes me merengue, and Huey makes me swoon. He has the most incredible, expressive, silky, sexy, romantic, sincere, tortured voice I have ever heard. You all should all listen to this album and buy it as soon as you can. I look forward to buying their English language album scheduled for release in January of 2000. Swing on, guys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fusion!, March 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Gotcha (Audio CD)
This work is pure synergy, the combined energy of hip hop, caribbean, rap and latin rythms combined to create explosive beauty. All songs are not to the level of De Oro and Acuyuye, but then again, those two are so great they'll keep some of us impatiently waiting for their next album.

4.0 out of 5 stars good alternative for better-known Latin stars, December 18, 1999
By
This review is from: Gotcha (Audio CD)
This is really an album that grows on you. DLG combines Latin sounds with modern dance music, like Ricky Martin, with the difference that DLG's music is much better. "Acuyuye" should have been a world-wide hit!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best..They've done it Again, November 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gotcha (Audio CD)
I must admit that at first I didn't think this CD was going to live up to the standards of the last one but after listening to it i can't stop playing it. This CD sounds great and has a beautiful variety of songs, like Acuyuye, Gotcha, Volvere, Eres mi Vida.. and many more. I love the fact that they are exploring new sounds and are doing a damn good job. DLG has done it again and I recommend this CD to any latin music lover and music lovers in general.

At first listen, I didn't think it was all that good, and that other was better, but then I popped it in again, and I have not taken it out. It just has an amazing flow to it, and should not be missed by anyone who likes good music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun cd that never received the attention it deserved, March 6, 2003
This review is from: Gotcha (Audio CD)
Ok, I know DLG is basically a boy-band put together by a producer fronted by the very [good looking] Huey Dunbar-that being said keep it mind that Huey sings as beautifully as he looks. The music takes risks and has fun, and the result is a really [great] cd that grooves with great fun.
The result is a cd that consistently raises my spirits whenever I listen to it. Fun is the word that keeps coming to mind-but that shouldn't undermine the fact that there is true talent and creativity here. Huey Dunbar has gone on to release a nice solo cd which also merits a listen and I enjoy-but it doesn't match the energy of DLG.

For an example, peep the charanga flute on 'Acuyuye', or the strong conga work. I think 'Angeles' is pretty corny, but it wouldn't be the first corny song I didn't like that still ended up worming its way into my subconsciousness and being sung under my breath when I wasn't thinking about it...anyone remember 'Good Times', 'Chico and The Man', or humming the theme to 'Sanford & Son'? Don't say you don't. Gotcha didn't hit me as hard as Swing On, but it's still pretty strong.

Chacho, este CD esta pegao!
