4.0 out of 5 stars Toy Combat, February 17, 2006
By
coopertex (CA United States) - See all my reviews
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gotcha Force (Video Game)
There over a hundred different borgs you can capture and many
secret borgs which can be unlocked! One cute thing about
the this game is that all of the borgs are only as big as
a palm-sized toy! So you have all these toys robots doing
battle in real world settings. If you fight in a bedroom
or a park, all the objects look huge in comparison to the
borgs size; it just looks cute. Before each battle you can
manage your borg collection and put together different
combinations to battle the enemy. Fighting with the right
borgs will make a difference in the outcome of the battle.
Some borgs are good at shooting long distance, but they
are not good at close combat. Other borgs are good at close
combat but do poorly against enemies with long-range weaponry.
The arenas you fight look cool and give you plenty of space
to manuver. In a single player game, you can team up with
CPU allies which fight along your side, but you can also
play with a friend in co-op mode! The action is intense
and I simply loved the variety of borgs in the game. Each
of them looks unique and some posses cool weapons and even
powers! I was simply amazed at the amount of characters
that the creators put into this game, they really pulled
out all the stops on their imaginations. You can also
view your borg collection and look at their stats. I was
very impressed by this amazing game that not many people
may not know about, they don't know what they are missing!
Gotcha Force comes pretty close to being a perfect action
game except for one huge flaw: the terrible camera system.
It is sad to find out that one of the best games ever has
one of the worst camera systems ever! I just hope they
make a sequel someday and correct the problem. If you
can overlook this flaw you will love Gotcha Force!

Pros:
+excellent action
+excellent graphics
+excellent sound effects
+excellent controls
+excellent A.I.
+tons of levels
+tons of robots (borgs)
+tons of unlockables
+lots of replay value
+very challanging
+play co-op with A.I.
+play co-op with a friend
+most unique characters ever
+excellent weaponry
+excellent powers
+good for kids and adults
+better than Pokemon
+melee combat
+cartoony/anime
+toy combat

Cons:
-Worst camera system ever
-repetative gameplay

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotcha Force - the ultimate battle of... toys?, September 26, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gotcha Force (Video Game)
Gotcha Force is a great game. The game play is easy to pick up, and yet for diverse enough to keep you hooked for months at a time. The graphics, while not the best, are very, very good, and add well to the game. The audio works well with the game, adding to the battles, and the storyline, while often overlooked, is pretty good when it IS presented. Overall, this is a great game.

The game starts off with an anime-style opening that is nothing short of fantastic. You then are pushed strait into your first battles, in which you learn the basics of the game and develop a good feel for the game. Once your first few battles are finished, however, you are given more freedoms, choosing which fights you participate in and where you battle.

The range of fighters, and endless combinations, are what really make this game addictive. When you start, you don't have many "borgs", and are forced to fight with what you have. However, as you start fighting, you have the chance to obtain the borgs that you have beaten. With so many borgs, countless battle styles and strategies can emerge. And as you get further and further into the game, you soon stumble upon "Data Crystals", which can be collected to get very strong or "Signature" borgs.

And the variation of borgs is just incredible. With 20 "tribes" of borgs, of which there are many more types of borgs, there are plenty of borgs to run around and collect. (Think pokemon times... well, times a whole lot!) Not only that, but this game also has 5 different rare, alternate colored versions of each borg, each with different stats and looks. Then, to make things better, there are certain borgs which can transform into other borgs. And there are also a few borgs that combine with each other to make other borgs. Trying to find and collect all of the borg is hard, but well worth playing the game a few times through to try.

Unfortunately, every good game has a few flaws. This game suffers from a really bad camera system. Because you are constantly locked on to your enemies, walls can often get in the way of your camera, obscuring your view. Although this doesn't matter about 72% of the time, it gets really annoying, especially during t final boss battle. And this game also suffers from another problem that many games suffer from. Repetitiveness. Playing this game through once, twice... heck, even three times is pretty fun. However, if you are going to to try to play it to collect all the borgs, you will find that replaying the game multiple times gets boring, especially since the story mode never changes no matter how many times you play it through.

Like I've said before, this game is a great game. The whole "toy-sized robots from space fighting each other" theme is cute, and makes for some pretty cool looking stages. The music is good, and the little bit of voice acting really helps out. The storyline, when you are allowed to see it, is very engrossing. And though the game suffers from a few problems, they aren't so bad that the game is overtly disturbed. Overall, the game is a fun and refreshing look at 3rd-person fighters, one that I would thoroughly recommend to everyone.

Gotcha Force has nothing too exciting or new, but it very fun and has a great replay value. With the help of the Gotcha Borgs, you have to save your town from the Death Force. Throughout the game you collect over 200 different kinds of Gotcha Borgs to create your team from. The gameplay is easy to learn and fun, especially the multiplayer modes. I highly recomend this game for anyone of any ages.

This review is from: Gotcha Force (Video Game)
I really love this game! It's fun to play story mode against huge bosses and overwhelming odds or to kick the computers sorry @$$ with a friend. You always have to look for new guys to beat so the Gotcha box can use their info to make one for you. Every character has a long range attack even if their wearing bronze knuckles! This game is one of those games like Super Smash Bros. where you can play it FOREVER!!!! BUY IT, YOU'll LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Asome, December 7, 2003

This game is probally the best multiplayer game in history. The only proble through the whole game is the camera sometimes goes infront of you. With over 200 toys the combos to your team are endless. You can also name your team(mine being the dragon thrashers of evil)The story goes like this you are a kid and you are walking to school and you find a borg you go over to it and it asks you to be its fighter. Its name is G-red then the death force comes and you have a battle tutorial. The ranges of borgs are from a ninja to a dragon to the devil. I would reccomend this game to anyone who likes to play multiplayer.

First of all, this game is bassically a good game for gamers that like action. Just to let you know this game requires some skill so be prepared. This game only has a few stages, but a lot of gotcha borgs(the little robot things). I recomend this game for those who play action games such as supersmashbros.melee.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've gotcha with some force!!!, March 11, 2004
This review is from: Gotcha Force (Video Game)
This game is just great! I mean, there are many units to collect, trade and train. As battles progress, your "Borgs" or battling robots gain valuable HP, defense, attack, and beam attack. The only way to get borgs are to get "Battle Points" which are also used as EXP. If you have at least 10,000 BP (Battle Points) then you MAY get a gotcha borg or a "Data Crystal" which is a building block for a powerful Gotcha Borg, however, these are even MORE RARE then a gotcha borg. But, if your persistant, then you'll get a DC (Data Crystal), however, you need 2-4 different DC's, for example, a blue "Flame Dragon" (there are 2 Flame Dragons, one blue and one green) would need Data Crystals 164A & 164B, after you collect them, you see the data crystals merge into one Gotcha Borg. However, some GB's need 4, like Sasuke need DC's 004A, 004B, 004C, 004D! But in the end this game is worth it.
