5.0 out of 5 stars This really took me back to the DC in 1998, November 17, 1999
By J. Thompson (York, PA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had the opportunity to see Bauhaus' Resurrection tour when they stopped in DC. The show was spellbinding, hauntingly beautiful, a real spiritual event. This recording really captures their live essence. Standout points are their cover of Dead Can Dance's 'Severance' (I saw in my mind Peter on a stage riser crooning above with his arm outstretched to the ceiling as he did in DC). 'In Fear of Fear' is blistering and the fuzzed intro to 'Double Dare' on the live recording filled me with the same chill I felt at the beginning of the show I saw. The fact that they included a version of 'Spirit' on this is all the more relishing. I believe they only played that song to the real enthusiastic crowds. It is quite a treat to have it here. Another perk to this release is a studio version of 'Severance', very similar to their live take on the song, but their first studio release of new material since they broke. Need I say that this is a must for any fan of Bauhaus? It is sure to invoke the same feel their live performance induces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
A well recorded live album, but I still kinda like the raw, noisy sound of Press the Eject and Give me the Tape. I was at the show, and found the live sound better than reproduced on the discs. Some of their best songs performed well - a must for the Bauhaus fan. Go ahead - it's worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars oh please (in reference to the reviewer from Brazil), January 28, 2000
By A Customer
Old punks? Bauhaus essentially single-handedly started the whole goth music scene. They are the original, quintessential goth band. I have been listening to them since 1981 or so, and to me they're still the best goth band ever. Most of the newer bands are just trying to emulate their style. Yeah, maybe this recording isn't the best, but it's a LIVE ALBUM! They are always going to sound rougher than the studio albums. The end result: if you LIKE Bauhaus and you LIKE live albums, then get this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Goth returns
I bought Gotham for purely nostalgic reasons and though that, with Peter Murphy's mellowed post Bauhaus ventures, the music would be a watered down Bauhaus imitation. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, its Goth, and yes, its brilliant.
