5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Nields' best
I love the nields, and always will. But when they keep putting out amazing music like Greta, you can't help but love them more!!! This is a GREAT cd and has some great songs on it. My personal favorites are I need a doctor and Best black dress.

3.0 out of 5 stars This CD is not representative of their talent
Their independently released (and out of print) "Bob on The Ceiling" is much more powerful in terms of the song writing and performace. Unlike the sad characters in "Be Nice to Me" and "Mary X-mas Mr. Jones" of the aforementioned CD, I just dont see anyone I can relate to on this one.

Thats not to say "Greta" is a total...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Must Buy, October 6, 1999

This is one of the best "sing-a-long" albums. The songs are great. You can even understand all of the words. The Nields are the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make the world a slightly better place, buy this record., October 8, 1998

In the lineage of intelligent pop masterworks by bands such as Squeeze, Split Enz, Prefab Sprout, and Crowded House stands The Nield's "Gotta Get Over Greta." Obvious comparisons to Joni Mitchel, Natalie Merchant and the Cranberries aside, The Nields offer up American pop that is without question, theirs alone. Bitterly delicious lyrics make the infectious music almost transparent. From their more folk/acoustic start they have managed to develop their fusion of musical styles. Katryn and Nerissa Nield's harmonies surpass almost any comparison in their expressive, plaintive yet unpresupposing honesty. This record is wonderful on so many levels that more than a year after it's release I cannot escape listening to it for more than a few days. A truly enriching journey that has no right to be SO musical. "Best Black Dress" and the title track alone are worth the price admission. That the sparse and undeniable "I Know What Kind Of Love This Is" and the challenging "King Of The Hill" are also on the same disc make this a must own. Picking just a few songs to mention by name is to do injustice to the entire record.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nields at their BEST!!!, August 10, 1998
This review is from: Gotta Get Over Greta (Audio CD)
This mixture of clasic Rock n Roll and Folk, that leaves you wanting much more. The Nields take on a harder edge on this album and this edge is one of the things that makes this a must for any true music lover's collection

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent alternative rock, August 3, 1998

Since 66 Hoxley Street, this band has had me hooked. I've seen them at the Iron Horse in Northhampton and other local clubs. This album is, without a doubt, their best work so far. "Greta" and "Bulletproof" are the kinds of songs that ring in your head for days. Katryna and Nerissa have wonderful voices that can fill an auditorium by themselves. If you haven't listened to them before, this is an album to take a chance on.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best undiscovered band around., August 3, 1998

The Nields "Gotta Get Over Gretta" major label debut is both polished and quirky, a reflection on the performers themselves. With its three additional tracks, even if you are an old fan who purchased the original release in concert, this one is worth buying. If you ask "What's a Nield?" then imagine a group that draws young and old, who will sit and talk with you after concerts, who still personally draw the cartoons in their news letter. With talent and personality, you can't go wrong with the Nields.

5.0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE THE NIELDS, July 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Gotta Get Over Greta (Audio CD)
This is an excellent cd filled with great songs with lyrics that address important issues of today. If you haven't listened to the Nields then you are missing out on exciting experience. We also recommend seeing them in concert, they are constantly touring the country. GO to a concert and get their other 2 cds (they are just as good as Gretta. They have classic Nield songs that are good for every mood.) BUY THIS CD

5.0 out of 5 stars We love you, Nields!, July 19, 1998

This is one of our favorite cd's, full of great lyrics and interesting sounds. The Nields are a refreshing mix of rock and folk, and the messages behind their songs are important. If you have a chance to see them in concert, do it; they travel quite extensively, and sell their other cd's - which are also really good.

This is one of my favorite bands. If you like Dar Williams, Ani Difranco, or Indigo Girls, you'll like these people. I also had the luck to see them in concert - very energetic and entertaining. My fav song is Gotta get over Greta. Lots of soul, lots of energy, and great lyrics.
