About the Author

Miami has developed quite the reputation for booty-bass music, strip clubs, and the infamous South Beach club scene. Veteran producer Sahpreem King is no stranger to any of these elements. Producing tracks for artists such as SWV, Wyclef, Beenie Man, and Eric BeneÂ’t, along with the Latin flavors laid down for artists such as DJ Laz, Paulina Rubio, Ivy Queen, Tono Rosario and Fat Joe, and A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia Kings, has not only elevated his productions to R.I.A.A. multi-platinum status, but also earned his music a number one position on BillboardÂ’s Latin 50. In Gotta Get Signed, Sahpreem lays out the steps one must take to learn the art and craft of hip-hop production.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any producer entering the game, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Gotta Get Signed: How To Become A Hip-Hop Producer (Paperback)
I must give Saphreem his full-fledged props for putting out a book with great knowledge at a great price. While no one book can cover all of the pitfalls, drama, excitement, and props of being a hip-hop music producer, he definitely gives us more than enough info on what to look out for and it serrves as an excellent starting point. There are things in here that I must pass on to my fellow 'Allies' (if you read the book, you'll know what I mean by 'Allies'. He breaks everything down tot he basics without being overly complex, and he has some funny stories that we all can learn lessons from. I almost feel like this is some sort of top-secret book! --- Again, thanks Saphreem!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great read if your interested in breaking into the industry, May 9, 2006
This review is from: Gotta Get Signed: How To Become A Hip-Hop Producer (Paperback)
I read this book and realized I was going about my career the wrong way. In order to be successful in a cut throat business such as this it is easier to learn things on your own and push your way into the door in stead of waiting and ringing the bell. This book also gave me great ideas on how to set up my studio without completely draining my pockets but still manage to make high quality mixes. I also saw the author at a seminar earlier this year, he keeps it real while still being informative unlike many others in this industry who can't tell you how to plug in a light let alone qualified enough to speak on a panel. If I could only read one this for the rest of my life it would be this because by the time I'd finished reading it over and over I'd be paid from all the tips given inside.
