I Gotta Go!: A Must-Have for Every Stage of Potty Training

This is by far the worst potty video on the market. My son had begun showing an interest in the potty, so I figured since children learn by example, this video would be a good opportunity for him to see toddlers like himself going potty.
I couldn't have been more wrong. I don't know what the point of this video is. The music, lyrics, dance moves and content are complete garbage and highly inappropriate. I could hardly get through it to screen it. Half of the children in this video should be in a video about puberty and beginning adolescence, not going potty! There were very few toddlers in the video, when they did appear on the screen for approximately .5 seconds, they didn't even pull their pants down to go potty or wipe themselves afterwards.

I certainly did not see the connection between the number they did in the recording studio and the "number 2". Nor did I see the point of pre-teens in a Karate dojo holding their private areas and jumping up and down. Were they perhaps signalling the need to urinate. A toddler is suppose to figure this out how? Considering they never once mention the words pee or poop, I'm still not quite sure.

is a joke. I couldn't even stand it long enough to watch the
whole thing. How does horrible music videos of kids dancing with toilets TEACH toilet training??? It is a video filled with brutal music and lyrics and I can not believe all the hype this gets! And being geared towards toilet training--I think some of the kids were too old and the dance moves weren't appropriate either. The whole time it was on, my 2.5 year old son was even giving me looks like "What is this??!?!?" This has to be the worst purchase I have ever made.

I got this DVD for my daughter and I was not impressed at all. It didn't seem to have any point to it, and honestly I don't know how this is supposed to help with potty training. I would definitely not recommend this DVD.

My son was completely not interested in going to the potty, and at 28 months old we were beginning to get concerned. We purchased I GOTTA GO! and his interest in the potty (as well as correctly using it) skyrocketed after the first time he saw the video! It's been 2 weeks now and my son is completely potty trained! He still loves watching I GOTTA GO everyday (as do my husband and I). Besides being a fantastic potty training video - its a great video for building confidence and feeling great about being a toddler! Would recommend to everyone!

It's a just a bunch of hyperactive music videos! Way too many wannabe child stars running around, with bad rapid-fire editing and cheesy video effects. The song "Hottie for the Potty" is just plain creepy. Do you really want your toddler to be a "Hottie"? How about a "Cutie for the Commode"? Or a "Tease for the Toilet" or a "Babe for the Bathroom"? What are the producers of this video thinking? The lyrics might be clever for an adult to listen to, but are way too mature for a 3 or 4 year old to make sense of. Too spastic. Too hyper. The video had no instructions about how to actually go to the potty!

I watched the whole video, to see if it was going to be useful, but my little guy totally lost interest in it after about five minutes. I would recommend "Once Upon a Potty," without hesitation, however. Nice story, with nice babies sitting on potties, friendly and frank instructions, told in a calm manner, on how to use the potty in language that toddlers can understand.

OK, here's the truth: my 3 year-old LOVES this DVD. She loves the songs and has pushed me to learn the words so I can sing along with the TV. However, I'm not sure my child is learning much about the subject of potty training. I'm using several other learning aids at the same time, so I'll never know one way or the other. The song "I'm a Hottie for the Potty" is quite disturbing, to be frank... and the young male pediatrician who is so exited about potty training (he talks to the parents at the end) makes the blood run a bit cold. If you like well written and produced songs in terms of children's videos, buy this one. I like it. If you're desperate to get your kid on the potty ASAP, read the other reviews before making a choice; other products may be more helpful.

My son loves this video. He sings the songs and dances and it has made potty training fun for him. I love how there is a song for every aspect of potty training. My son has high functioning autism and we have tried everything. We finally have success with a rewards system and this video. If you have a child who enjoys music, dance and is very visual this is highly recommended.

My daughter was potty trained before she was 3. My older son was 3 1/2 -- late by some standards -- but transitioned smoothly from diapers to pull-ups to "big boy pants" with the help of a sticker chart and small rewards. My youngest, however... NOTHING was working. Sticker charts, the offer of rewards of all kinds, new big boy pants, "Don't you want to be big like your brother and your dad?", reading potty books, you name it... NADA. What we got was, "NO NO NO NO I'm not a big boy you can't make me I don't want to I forgot I had to go I pooped in my pants..." A serious discipline issue, on top of the entire potty thing, which is bad enough. This video, which I grabbed on a whim from the video stand at our local library, did the trick. Maybe another potty video would have done just as well, but it was watching this one that made my sweet little Genghis Khan decide that he wanted to use the potty all the time. We must have watched this thing 3 times a day for about 6 weeks (the library allowed me to renew, thank goodness!) and at the end of that time, he was CONSISTENT about the potty. Good thing, too -- preschool started 2 months later. Yes, I got sick of the songs. Yes, the video shows bigger kids and even a chimp. It's probably not useful for kids younger than 3 and kids who don't have a clue how the mechanics of eliminating in the toilet work... it's more a motivational tool for those who know how but don't want to. If that's the situation with your kid, give it a try.

This DVD was a real big help when it came to potty training my son. He would fuss & fight when I wanted him to go on the potty. But he watched "I Gotta Go" and for the first time something finally helped push him to be want to use the potty. We are still working on it, but he loves to immitate the monkey using the potty, washing his hands, and that now he's a big boy because he goes on the potty. He really likes the songs and the music has been a big push for him, at least something is finally working.

We LOVED the music! We LOVED the children dancing, playing and having fun - all around a potty training theme! Very clever approach to this challenging time. My twins went from hating to go potty to asking to go all the time. I would recommend this to everyone!
