A pretty good pop album,
By Cynthia Selene (Miskolc, Hungary) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gotta Tell You (Audio CD)
I don't know how many different editions of this album exist; mine, which has the same cover as this one, has the tracklisting Gotta Tell You - Body II Body - Baby Come On Over - Isn't It Strange - Lately - What's It Gonna Be - Always Come Back To Your Love - Lose You Again - Feelin' Is Right - Never Meant To Be - Believe In Me - Til The Night Becomes The Day.
This is one of the few albums which I can listen without skipping any of the tracks. It has everything: up- and midtempo songs, pop, r'n'b, ballads, love, loss, sadness and happiness. It seems to me that all the emotions Sam ever has felt are represented on the CD: from the happy love of "Always Come Back To Your Love" to the sad tunes of "Never Meant To Be" and "Lately", the sexy "Body II Body", the encouraging "Feeling Is Right". The song "Gotta Tell You" was a good choice as a first single; both the music and the lyrics are drawing attention. My special favorite on the album is "Til The Night Becomes Day". This is a song which can lift my spirit when I'm down (the only other song which makes me feel this way is Mariah Carey's "Can't Take That Away"). "Don't be afraid to fly, rise up and touch the sky, just like a butterfly" sings Sam and it all comes straight from her heart. The version of "Baby Come On Over" is not the radio / video version, and "Always Come Back To Your Love" is the rap version. (A hint: look out for Sam's singles, sometimes they contain songs which aren't on the album.)

Best Pop Star Ever!,
By "zooropaflygirl" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gotta Tell You (Audio CD)
No, I'm not exaggerating, I mean it. I'm in love with Samantha Mumba and everything about her. Unlike most of the pop stars that are dominating the U.S. charts, Samantha Mumba has an interesting background, talent, and GREAT music! This is the first version I bought, and I favour it over the American version. Even though it doesn't include "Don't Need You To Tell You I'm Pretty", it includes two better songs, "Believe In Me" and "Til Night Becomes The Day". Also, this issue includes the original (and better!) versions of "Baby Come Over" and "The Boy". The original version of "Baby Come Over" sounds pretty much the same as the redone one, only not as extended and overdone, and in my opinion better. Samantha sounds more like herself in this one, also. The original version of "The Boy" is NOT the remix with The Black Eyed Peas. This one is so much better, and the rap isn't done by WILL.I.AM, but by an ananymous rapper, and is so much catchier and better. The WILL.I.AM rap is just ridiculous. This is one of those really good albums where I can listen through the entire album without skipping any tracks- they're all so good and catchy, I even know them by heart now. Despite the fact "Gotta Tell You" was the first single, the other songs are better. The problem with this country is that people don't get a chance to experience truly good music. Instead you have the same old Britney and N*Sync being shoved down your throats, and they won't give other people a chance. Because of this, "Gotta Tell You" and "Baby Come Over" were the only singles in the U.S., even though the rest of the album is with out a doubt elligible hit material. Not to my surprise, she's got the recognition she deserves in other countries, with at least half the songs on the album released as singles, like "Body II Body", "Always Come Back To Your Love" and "Lately". I'm sure these wonderful songs would have done great in the U.S., but would these close-minded Americans give her her a chance? NO! Its situations like this that make me wish I lived in the UK, Ireland, or Down Under. A majority of the best music comes from these places, far better than the rubbish coming out of the States, half of them some people never heard of. "Kylie Minogue? Who's that?" Anyway, all the tracks are highlights, so it's hard to choose favourites. Probably "What's It Gonna Be" and "Body II Body". Or "Believe In Me", or... These songs have good relate-to lyrics, and the music just makes you feel all good and happy inside, like you've got something to believe in. Makes it feel like spring/summer all year 'round. She's also from Ireland and is half native Irish blood/half Ugandan. How cool is that? I'm also black and Irish (and a mix of other things) but I'm not from Ireland. So we have something in common. She's also such a sweet, down-to-earth girl, I'd like to meet her! Check out her new movie remake of the Time Machine. She has an American accent in the movie, but it's cool! OK, I think I'm pretty much past my recommendation of 75 to 300 words, so I'm going to have to shut up now. Here's my advice: Pick up a copy of this CD today if you know what's good for you. Go Sam!

SAMANTHA MUMBA IS THE NEXT BRITNEY SPEARS!!!!,
By "i_love_ritchie_foreva" (Aucks, Nz) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gotta Tell You (Audio CD)
Yes! Samantha Mumba has an excellent voice and she's from Ireland, so that must be good. Unfortunightly, I only got her album yesterday, so I don't know all the tracks.... and I come from New Zealand, so I don't know the extra tracks on the US album. I recommend if you live in the US, and you want to know which album is better, the US one. It has better tracks. I will however review my favourite tracks on 'Gotta Tell You' in order:1. Baby Come On Over This is my favourite, because it's so catchy and funky. People say the lyrics are a little rude for a 17 year old, but if you ignore them, it's very easy to listen to. #1 song, definetly, my fave song of the month! A++++++++++++++++++++++ 2. Always Come Back To Your Love I love this song. It's so slow and lovely. In Europe, it's Sam's 3rd single. I love the music and Sam's singing. My second fave. A+++++++++++++++++ 3. Body II Body This is kewl, being Sam's second single in Europe. It is slightly longer then the single version, with different lyrics. I have the single and I have to say I like this version better. My third fave. A+++++++++++++++ 4. Gotta Tell You Everyone knows this as Sam's debut single. I like the video and the song itself. My fourth fave A++++++++++++++ 5. Isn't It Strange My only fave song that isn't a single of right now. The chorus of the song makes no sense at all, but it's so damn catchy I can't help myself. My fifth fave A++++++++++
