My daughter LOVED the Cooking Mama games (and actually learned alot of cooking terms playing same) so since she has been trying to translate her Nintendo cooking skills into real life cooking skills, I bought her this game as it seemed more realistic. The stories and long and drawn out and you have to read them all the way through unless you hit the select button and that skips the story. The dishes also get progressively harder to make. I have made the same dish about five times and each time I got a low quality rating and I have no idea why. I think Cooking Mama is much more fun than this game. Save your money on this one and get Cooking Mama.

It's good, and she does play with it, but not as much as Cooking Mama. It's a bit more complex since there are stations where various tasks must be performed to get the plate out. It's more like a restaurant instead of a kitchen.

I love this game. Then again I am addicted to cooking games, this game is one of the best and is perfect for adults. Its not very childish, and the food looks amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game if you love to cook, July 7, 2008

I decided to write a review about this game. I brought it at Target after looking in two other stores trying to find it. I love to cook, so I got this cooking game for my nintendo ds. This game is really fun.

You are a assissant chef in a French restaurant and you get to cook different french dishes for your customers.

I would recommend this game to anybody who loves cooking, just like I do.

I am extremely disappointed in this game. I loved the other cooking games, but this one seems a bit contrived. The story is boring when it's supposed to be exciting, and stupid when it's supposed to be funny. The cooking mechanics can be tricky at times. It near impossible to get a perfect score. You are graded on time and accuracy. Accuracy is easy, but time is the toughy. Overall, this game is worth a try, but don't expect to be wowed.

I bought this game for my 13 year old daughter and she thought it was fun. She liked that the game made you follow the recipes, She thought it was like Cookin' Mama. We have not actually made any of the recipes, but plan to do so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better..., November 24, 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

I can't remember when I purchased this game but I know I couldn't beat it. I'm a fan of cooking games and own all the Cooking Mama games for the DS plus a few others. I decided to try this game for the very same reason but found it to be too difficult. Now I'm not saying I was expecting Cooking Mama easiness and repetitiveness but after trying to play this game a couple years after buying I'm finding I'm still having insane amounts of trouble.

The story is interesting, the characters have a certain charm to them but it's the gameplay I'm having the most trouble with. The first recipes are easy but sometimes doing something as simple as cutting the onion is difficult because my stylus slips off that little line of blue dots. But as the story and game progresses, the one thing that has always been my enemy is the timer.

I have rushed through some of these recipes so fast my hand cramped and still I could barely make it before the timer ran out, because when it does, it doesn't matter that you didn't let the food burn, you fail the recipe and have to do it again. I've replayed some recipes to see if I could multi-task by having several things going at once (like in a real kitchen) and still the timer ticks down to it's last tick and I fail the recipe.

I have to wonder if the creator's of this game were expecting adults and children to have amazing reflexes to be able to get a five star rating on the speed you cook because so far it's near impossible. I'm still going to try to beat this game but I'm fairly sure I will be once again defeated by the evil timer.

So buyers be warned; You're gonna have to have some clever and fast hands to play this game.

I regret getting this game Gourmet Chef cook your way to fame is one of the most boring games U have ever played ,the timer goes too fast and you have to drag things from one station to the other if you want to save time and beat the clock . This game along with imagine fashion designer is going in my rejects I may have finished the game but once you finish it there's really nothing to do no new recipes or minigames nothing
