There is one cupcake recipe in this book. It is for vanilla cupcakes. The author also suggests you can just use a gluten free mix to make your cupcakes. Everything else in the book is about filling and decorating cupcakes.
The recipes often call for specific brands, like "Jello Butterscotch pudding mix" which may currently be gluten free but it seems like there should be more of an awareness that these brands may change their recipes, start processing on equipment that uses wheat, ect.
I was looking for ideas on baking different *types* of cupcakes, a subject which is completely neglected in this book--the author considers experimenting with different cupcake recipes to be "reinventing the wheel" and is apparently satisfied with a vanilla cupcake as the basis for everything.
If you are looking for a book to inspire you on the topic of cupcake decorating, this seems like a good semi-homemade type of book that will offer some creative suggestions on using various mixes and a few simple ingredients to produce nice cupcakes.
