Amazing book about cooking,
By
This review is from: Gourmet Nutrition: The Cookbook for the Fit Food Lover (Paperback)
This books is the best thing which has ever happened to food lovers. EVERY meal presented in it is super healthy and meets the highest standards of healthy nutrition. You will find meals meeting low carb requirements and the ones with high carbs. All the meals are complete, high in essential healthy fats, good lean source of protein and full of microelements (vitamins etc). The meals are composed from the healthiest things on earth but it doesn't mean they are boring and not tasty, quite the contrary, you will learn that cooking and eating healthy, natural foods is much more pleasant taste experience than traditional "gourmet" meals loaded with things which shouldnt ever find the way to human body.Highly recommended and real pity that Amazon doesn't ship those for now.

Fantastic,

This cookbook is definitely a staple & great tool for achieving a fabulous body! Here are the things I love about it, The meals... -are incredibly healthy -contain easy to find ingredients -DON'T contain long lists of ingredients -taste great -are meant for mostly 1-2 servings (great for people like me that are cooking for one & don't want to eat the same thing for 4 days) The book... -pictures of every recipe -contains nutritional breakdown for each male (large) & female (small) portions -offers suggestions for side dishes (I love when cookbooks do this, it makes planning meals so much easier) -offers suggestions for substitutions that don't radically change the nutrition content -separates meals into "Anytime" & "Post-workout" The higher carb meals are the PW meals. Following the suggestion to eat them only after working out is great for losing and maintaining fat loss. I really like that there is no tracking calories or carbs or any kind of tracking/calculating at all! If you eat the AT meals anytime & the PW meals post-workout you won't eat too many carbs or calories, you won't eat too few grams of protein (for muscle maintenance) or calories. So much better than every other cookbook I've ever had where you have to calculate & pick & choose what meals you can eat together on the same day without eating too many calories, carbs or too few calories. Some minor problems with the book -typos (the protein content on a couple recipes is the calorie count repeated. But that's easily remedied by subtracting the fat grams * 9 & the carb grams * 4, from the total calorie count)

Best cookbook I own!,
By Bryan "Bryan" (Tampa , FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gourmet Nutrition: The Cookbook for the Fit Food Lover (Paperback)
I've purchased several nutrition-based cookbooks, and I can honestly say that Gourmet Nutrition is the best cookbook on the market. I have owned it for a week and have already tried at least 15-20 of the recipes in the book. I really like the fact that it offers suggestions for pairing basic proteins with 2 different side options - one to eat "anytime" and the other to eat "post workout." The premise being that higher carb meals or snacks should preferably be eaten in the 2-3 hours following a workout. This is when your body is most easily able to tolerate carbs. All in all, it's extremely flexible, the meals are fantastic, and the recipes are simple enough to assemble in 5-20 minutes (depending on the recipe.)

I cannot say enough positive things about this book. I have bought a few cookbooks that are geared for athletes and fitness warriors but they always fell short. This book was well thought out and planned and delivered on all points. The book is very easy to use, yet flexible and powerful enough to allow you to achieve whatever physique goals you may have, whether just simply looking to get in shape, drop body fat, put on muscle, prepare for bodybuilding or other athletic competition. This book is written by individuals that understand athletes, performers, and everyday folks, realizing that no two people are alike and how its important to experiment with your nutritional breakdown to determine what's right for you. Here is what you get, many of which I have yet o find in other books. PROS * Large and small servings ideal for men or women and can be adjusted if cooking for more than one person. * Post-workout and anytime meals. I don't recall seeing this feature elsewhere, but this helps me out tremendously, knowing which meals have that extra carb content * Main and side dish pairings, so you can have your protein and decide which side dishes u want to use for your carbs, whether low carb or more complex. * Meal templates to use if u wish according to whatever time of day you work out. * Section of food preparation tips for those that need it and those who want more efficient ways of cooking. * Tools and equipment so you know what to have in your kitchen and cabinets. Its not complicated because most people have these utensils already. * Breakfast, Shakes & Smoothies, Meats (include game meat like venison and bison), Poultry, Seafood, sides, snacks, salad dressing. * Nutritional breakdown of protein, carbs, fats, fiber, sugar, that is easy to understand and duplicate in the recipes. * Recipes that are simple and do not require a large amount of ingredients. * Variations and Options which is perfect for those that are either lactose intolerant or want to eliminate or keep their dairy consumption to a minimum. * Color photos of every recipe. * Preparation, Marinade and Cooking times are provided, and most food is done within 30 minutes. * Suggestions on how to make a meal be post-workout (more carbs) or take away the carbs. Its all healthy carbs so its not a low carb diet just the best carbs which is highly important for athletes and those fitness enthusiast. * CON The only thing I wish was better was the spine if the book. while most recipes you are able to lie the book open and flat I wish there was a spiral binder which would make the book even better. Maybe that's something the writers and publishers should consider for next time. ALL iN ALL I LOVE THIS BOOK AND CANT' PRAISE IT ENOUGH. It is money well spent and my waistline and heart thank me very very much!

My husband and I have been trying to shed a few pounds. We enjoy food and hate to sacrifice taste to lose weight. The recipes in this book are great tasting, easy to prepare, satisfying and have truly helped us shed pounds and body fat. My husband has lost 16 lbs and I have lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks, thanks to this book and exercise. We love this book. Would love to have more recipes like this.

Sexy cookbook!,
This review is from: Gourmet Nutrition: The Cookbook for the Fit Food Lover (Paperback)
I am a cookbook snob. Although I'm fine to visualize a recipe from the ingredients/instructions alone, if a cookbook doesn't have photos for every recipe (or close to it), I don't take much notice. To me, cookbooks are really just food porn so there's gotta be photos! This cookbook doesn't disappoint! The photography is stunning and the quality of the book paper is superb. You really could use this as a coffee table book! I love that all the recipes have full nutritional information and are health-focused. I'm a health-fanatic and there's nothing worse than getting excited about a "healthy" cookbook only to find out that it's full of artificial "diet" ingredients. That is definitely not the case here! My favorite recipe is definitely the Spinach, Feta, Cashew Pesto on pg.256, which I blogged about here: [...] Highly recommend this book. It's a keeper!

I have been a follower of Precision Nutrition for over a year and just recently purchased this cookbook. I was hoping for some inspiration and creativity since I already ate according to PN's golden rules. This book delivered that and much more. The recipes are simple and easy and most importantly they take little time to prepare. As a mother of two little boys this was extremely important. You can easily vary the recipes as you wish and use them as a starting point to create your own meals. I highly recommend it to those looking to eat healthier and those who already do. You can't loose! The only criticism (anti it is a very nit picky, tiny one!) is that the photos and the descriptions don't equate. The book will give a description in the directions such as "chop an onion", but then the photo will clearly show the onion sliced. I know this is very nit picky and honestly it didn't cause any problems understanding or preparing the recipes (and the photos are beautiful!). I just thought I would mention it. Overall, great buy!!

The ONLY Cook Book I Use Professionally,
By
This review is from: Gourmet Nutrition: The Cookbook for the Fit Food Lover (Paperback)
I am a Sport Nutritionist and have extremely high requirements to the cook books. So far this is the best recipes book I ever had. I can not imagine myself working without it. Working with people on a daily basis I noticed that visual aid is the best help to get people understand things. This is what is amazing in this book, the mouthwatering pictures of each meal. The quality of meal selection is wonderful - nutritious and delicious at the same time. Lots of creative ideas. It's because of this book some of my clients believe I'm a genius :))) I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to stay healthy and fit, enjoy your food and don't spend hours cooking ;)simple yet practical tips and advise in this book will help you a lot and it's a great gift too, since it's a high quality product from inside out.Enjoy!

This cook book is definately very well done. It starts out with a section explaining all the various considerations that should be considerd for healthy eating, it also has a great introduction on how to best use the book to help you reach your goals. One of my favorite things is the section on general cooking rules & tips it really explains lots of good tips & techniques that are very helpfull. There's even a list of items you should have in your pantry and a food preparation list. The book is fun to use and the recipies are really great. If you buy the book read the first few sections then just start out slow, pick an item or two and just build on it. We've really learned a lot and enjoy cooking with this book.

beautiful book but recipes so far are blah,
By Heather G. (Falls Church, VA) - See all my reviews

This is an absolutely beautiful book. Each recipe has its own picture, the recipes are easy to follow and are definitely healthy. However, I find the taste of the food lacking. In fairness to the authors, I've only tried a few of the recipes. The Mint Chocolate Shake (so disgusting I couldn't drink it), Baked Chicken Strips (tasteless), and yesterday I made the Peanut Crunch Bars (not that fabulous, they are very mushy sort of like a protein play-doh). Oh, and I made the Blueberry Power Yogurt but that isn't original since I've been combining yogurt, fruit, and protein powder for sometime now (and yes that is yummy). I have the ingredients for the 8-Layer Dinner and will give that a try. If it isn't that good then I may not try another recipe.
