Book Description

This popular and insightful new guide to excellent value-for-money restaurants in Paris, written by people who live in the French capital, will save you a small fortune.

For one of the most problematic aspects of eating out in the French capital is that standards and value for money vary enormously. Paris, the world’s leading tourist city, has a huge captive market of visitors who are here today, gone tomorrow. So restaurants, particularly in tourist areas, are prone to dishing out culinary mediocrities at eye-watering prices.

Over the last number of years we have spent a lot of time eating out in Paris and dined in hundreds of restaurants across the city. But we have returned time and again to the restaurants featured in this guide. We have found them to be exceptional for value and quality of food.

Authentic and insightful, our budget-friendly guide to gourmet Paris gives you the inside track on a delightful element of Parisian life that is rarely discovered by visitors to this wonderful city.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Eddie Lennon is editor and chief writer of Gourmet Paris On A Shoestring. An experienced journalist and travel writer, he is also editor of the award-winning guide Wonderful Havana, which is available as an Amazon eBook. He has lived until recently in Paris.

Kristen Dorman is an Australian lawyer. She has lived in Paris for the past five years. Having travelled extensively in Africa and Asia, the restaurants she visits reflect her attempts to rediscover the flavours she has discovered during her travels.

Nina Louchard is from Paris. An addict of eating out, she enjoys sharing her knowledge of Paris with others—simply, she says, because she likes sharing...and people.

Jeroen Knippenberg is a Dutch neuroscientist and writer. He is currently living in Paris.

5.0 out of 5 stars But beware: What's a shoestring? May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I too have lived in Paris and visited it frequently. To pretend that one can eat well (far, far above American standards) inexpensively is nonsense.

For that, we must travel the countryside, red Michelin in hand.

I have yet to eat at any of these restaurants. However, they seem to me to be what they represent - fine dining at 'bargain' prices. However, I must alert the readers that shoestrings there, these days, cost $20 to $40 - and up. Well worth it, but....

3.0 out of 5 stars Shoestring? February 24, 2013

Apparently, we don't have the same size shoestring!! This was interesting, but I don't think I'll be visiting any of these establishments, not on my budget anyway!
