Actual dried duck filets (minimum crude protein 68%, min. fat 2%, moisture 18%). don't know how they do it at this price, but of course it is a product of China. It states on the 2 lb bag that 9 lbs of duck meat were used which would be typical for any jerky. Because it is solid meat (obvious to the eye and how it breaks apart) there should be No issue with melamine...

I had bought these before. I understood that they had glycerin in them and that they were made in china, but we used them occasionally and I thought they'd be OK with the limited ingredients. This company has changed the ingredients and cleverly does not show that on the amazon site. In fact they list only duck breasts as the ingredients on the Amazon site. On the back of the package, it states that they are now adding soy protein isolate. I don't want my dog to have soy and especially not any protein isolate. The protein should come from the duck meat. With the melamine scare involving doctored protein from China, the soy protein isolate is a perfect place to further pad the ingredients. Heaven only knows what is in them. I think it is disingenuous of the company to list only the duck breast ingredient, when they know there are more questionable ingredients. Had I known these were the current ingredients, I would not have purchased this product.

I cannot bring myself to give these to my dogs and certainly will not be foisting them on unsuspecting people who trust me to give to their pets. I like the company and have ordered from them in the past, but this is a big black eye for them. I would strongly advise against purchasing this item. You will feel very badly if the product makes your dog sick.

Actual dried duck filets (minimum crude protein 68%, min. fat 2%, moisture 18%). don't know how they do it at this price, but of course it is a product of China. It states on the 2 lb bag that 9 lbs of duck meat were used which would be typical for any jerky. Because it is solid meat (obvious to the eye and how it breaks apart) there should be No issue with melamine. Each piece is around 5-6 inches long, 1/2 to 3/4 " wide, and about an 1/8" thick with natural variance in size expected with dried solid meat and little to no smell. The bag is resealable. The treats have a typical dried beef jerky texture so they are consumed fairly quickly, at least by our dogs (60 lbs and 75 lbs) But most important, our dogs absolutely love them. Your dogs will thank you. My folks in a different state have been able to get these at CostCo at a very good price

VERY disappointed these are made in China. That info should be included in ad. Dogs love them, but I don't trust the manufacturing process. Wish I could return the product. Bag says to wash hands with soap and water after handling - and I'm supposed to feed this to my dogs?

This is an excellent dog treat which dogs devour and beg for more. They are economical and come in
a nice size 2 lb bag which lasts and lasts. They are not filled with artificial enhancers but are just a natural
dried meat treat. Neither you nor your dog will be sorry so try them today.

They didn't have any more at Costco. My dogs are hooked on them, so I paid a little more and ordered them online. One of my dogs has IBD so I'm extremely limited in the treats I can give her. They were just the same great quality - fresh and chewy when I received them. Thanks, Amazon!

I have been buying these treats for my dogs for months (since it's so hard to find "just dried meat" treats), after my last purchase, I noticed the treats had a much tougher texture. I looked at the ingredients and they added vegetable glycerin, soy protein isolate, and salt. I will not be buying these again.

I have ordered these duck treats from you several times (2-3 bags ea order). I was always very pleased. The last time I ordered, (3 bags) the "use by" date on all three packages had already expired. I have one full bag left which I'm going to toss in the trash. My little girls (Gabby and Lola) are turning them down because they are old and hard. Like I said, this is the first of maybe 6 seperate orders where I have been totally discouraged and disgusted with the quality. I need to make another order, but not sure I if should take another chance.

I have given my dogs this treat for a few years now. Usually, the jerky is meaty looking and chewy. My recent order, the meat was almost white-ish, they were so dry; and the treat was very brittle/ You could press on the bag and crush them like potato chips. I contacted the [...] and they said that they have been having trouble with their ovens and the product has been too dry and they are working on fixing that. Even knowing all that, they are still packaging and selling the overly dry product. Very disappointed.

The treats were not moist as others have been that I previously ordered. As such, my dog is not as happy. I buy in bulk so I am stuck with them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still a product of China..., January 6, 2010
This review is from: Cadet Gourmet Pet Treats Duck Breast Fillets, 32-Ounce (Grocery)
As soon as I opened the bag my dogs and cats all went nuts. I would say they are intising to them. Even though these products look like solid meat, there should still be caution. Melamine was only used to mimic higher protein content that was lost during processing of certain foods. I am doing extensive research on what was used in the drying process. Unfortunatly, animal products do not have much in the way of standards as do people food with the FDA. Though, the food part of the FDA is only 1% of the organization and only 1/2 of that 1% is actualy tested. The rest is up to chance for the public to find out. I bought this product with the ignorance of its orgin. After seeing it is from China, for my own peace of mind, I will be returning it. China has not been pressed in issues as far as pet food products to change. All that has been changed is what has been found. This is not someting I would chance with my child or my pet!! Use at your pet's own risk.
