Really good tamales,

These are truly gourmet tamales. Rich taste and excellent texture.
You definitely don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy them, but if you are it's a special treat since it's hard to find a tasty tamale that's totally vegetarian (not only meatless, but they also don't use lard as traditional tamales do.) One puzzling thing in the description above - it says they're flavored with "fressh (sic) jalapenos", but it doesn't seem like they are. The ingredients list doesn't list jalapenos. In any case, don't get the idea that these are "extra-spicy" tamales - they're very traditional and not hot at all. Whatever peppers they use just blend into the overall flavor. If you want to spice them up, you'll need to add some of your favorite sauce. |
