If you are looking for the ultimate dessert book, this is it. The editors of Gourmet have included both simple, homey desserts and extremely sophisticated ones. All yield delicious results. The precise and scholarly instructions allow even the most rudimentary baker to take on challeges like the Chocolate Mousse Cake with Ganache Icing shown on the cover. Friends and family rave about my Key Lime Pie - this is the recipe I use!

I bought this book years ago when I was a teenager living with my parents. Now, as a wife and mom, I still love this book. It is the best desserts cookbook that I've ever seen. It has it all. Simple everyday desserts, elaborate desserts, popular and famous desserts, classic desserts... Here is a list of just A FEW of the recipe sections: bundt cakes, coffee cakes, layer cakes, sponge cakes, genoise cakes, rolled cakes, chiffon cakes, chocolate cakes, cheescakes, fruit cakes, pastry doughs, bombs, ice-cream molds, soufflés, puddings, pies, tarts, how to make baking basics like fondant, marzipan, how to make lattice topped pie, etc There are lots of recipes; over 600, not many photos, which would normally be a minus for me, but since this book is so comprehensive, I still love it. I honestly don't know of a single american dessert that isn't featured in this book. Here is just a sample of a few of the recipes in the pie and tart chapter (I'm a pie and tart lover). In addition to many pie and tart crust/shell recipes, it has recipes for; Madeira mincemeat pie, apple cheddar turnover, pecan pie, lemon chess pie, linzertorte, apricot frangipane tart, gooseberry flan, pumpkin pie, apple pie, shoofly pie, strawberry rhubarb tart, etc

Excellent book, it has great receipes. The receipes are explainged perfectly. Great pictures for inspiration. I consider this book like a small enciclopedia for desserts. I think is one of the best books, that I have at this moment. I would recomended it 100 %.

I miss Gourmet. This book has so many wonderful recipes, and the pictures are up to the Gourmet standards. Many recipes here are complicated, and some call for special equipment. If you want a project that will yield amazing results, you will find it here.

Every kind of Christmas cookie is in this book, and many are pictured.

You won't use this book every day; but when you need a special dessert for a grand occasion, this book will be your first and best reference.

Gourmet is always my go to source for great meals and desserts and I love having this source for desserts only. There are some great photos - wish there were more. I've tried only a few recipes so far but gourmet never disappoints me!
