Review
As we increasingly care about our own nutrition, recognizing links between diet and long-term well-being, we are also showing concern for the health of our pets. All Gourmets seems to have been written mostly for fim and the love of animals (a portion of the book-sale proceeds go to animal welfare); but it has a major benefit in inspiring readers to consider seriously the nutritional requirements of their furry friends. Aimed primarily at feline and canine diners, the book is divided into appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Mary Quant, Ronald Reagan, and Deborah Kerr donated recipes and photos. Originally written and published in the UK, the book has marry contributors who won't be readily recognized here. Ingredients are measured in ounces and grams--not as convenient for most Americans as cups and teaspoons. Readers are liable to find themselves testing the recipes for goat cheese pancakes or stuffed radishes or the Guinness Loaf (yum). Unusual, timely, and inspiring, All Gourmets is useful and just different enough to earn a place in most public libraries. -- From Independent Publisher
