4.0 out of 5 stars Sets you in the right direction
This book is not just a phone book of finacial assistance. It will also give you tips on how to get government loans and grants. It also preps you for what is to come when starting a busuness. Imagine walking into a test already knowing what the questions will be, that's how this book will make you feel. Although it does not always give you staight forward answers and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, August 23, 2002

I bought this book to discover funding ideas for a business I was interested in starting. Unfortunately, I did not find the information I was looking for.

This book is not without merit, but it is not the information source its publishers advertise it to be. There is information for civic groups, minorities, economically challenged people, etc. However, there was not very much information for middle class Americans. I felt it would have been more honest to title the book "Government Funding Sources for Minorities, Economically disadvantaged, and State Goverments."

My advice would be to check it out at your public library first. If you find it useful, then buy it. Otherwise, keep looking.

Imagine walking into a test already knowing what the questions will be, that's how this book will make you feel. Although it does not always give you staight forward answers and some phone numbers are expired it still helps temendously. If you are a minority, a woman or a diabled veteran looking for a loan or a grant this book is for you

This book did NOT provide any good information for real business people trying to get money for their business. Save your money by NOT buying this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Government Giveaways by Lesko et al., July 16, 2003
This review is from: Government Giveaways for Entrepreneurs IV (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for providing insight into the many
government programs available for Americans. There are a
plethora of grants and loans in real estate alone. The programs
serve mostly the poor and middle class. The challenge is to
identify the government grant and get assistance with writing
a proposal-preferably through a grant writer or someone who
has been successful in securing funds previously. The Title I
fix-up loans are the most popular. Many citizens simply are not

aware of what the government gives away and/or the terms.
This work provides a wealth of data on the subject.
It is highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Saving the money you do have!, July 26, 2000
By A Customer
This was the worst book I have ever brought and the only book I ever return to amazon. Since a customer for about two years now and been happy with all the books this book is the worst! It hardly gives you any information and there is no way a know if you will ever get any money even after you wrote to any of the companies he listed. Save the time, effort and money you do have.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It., December 2, 2005
This review is from: Government Giveaways for Entrepreneurs IV (Paperback)
Another complete waste of money and time. This book provided no good information for securing capital, other than small business loans. Mostly based on loans by states, of which only one applies at any given time. Another dust collector for my shelves.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a JOKE, March 12, 2003
By A Customer
I read the reviews and I am florred, this book is HUGE, there is so much information that to be so negative on it only reflects the laziness of the book's reader's, if you want the information and are willing to WORK oh theres that dirty word yes WORK. please, that one reviewer states that he wanted to start a business only to be discouraged by this book, HA I don't buy it, send the letters make the phone calls and you will open new doors, I can't get over the used copies for so cheap this book will cost 5.00 in shipping and handling alone, oh well god bless and have a great life.
