There are a number of excellent gateways to various categories of government information on the World Wide Web. In view of the web's rapid growth, a useful printed guide to web-based government information must be truly special to warrant purchase. This is such a book. It includes thorough descriptions of government and legal information sites at the state, federal, and international levels. Evans's (Law on the Net, Nolo, 1996) scope is impressive, as the range of sites covered encompasses discussion groups, members of Congress, and current and historical documents, in addition to major government information sites. The print volume is indexed, and a CD-ROM disc provides welcome assistance with often unwieldy URLs. As might be expected, some information is dated or incomplete (e.g., Northwestern University's indispensable foreign and IGO gateways are not listed). Of course, no single book or gateway provides direct access to all government and legal sites, but this title is a useful desk reference and a worthwhile addition to ready-reference collections in all libraries serving government and legal information users.?Patrick Ragains, Univ. of Nevada, Reno
