An insider's view from an outsider on Malaysian politics,
By A Customer
This review is from: Government and Society in Malaysia (Asia, East by South) (Paperback)
Harold Crouch narrates with ease and authority on a subject matter that he had observed for more than a decade from within. He frames his analysis on a simple but powerful assumption that Malaysian politics and society operates essentially on the basis of a 'moving equilibrium', combining hormoniusly and effectively conflict and consensus in a continuosly reconstituted continuum. Watch not only for the main text, but the important revealing footnotes, too.

This review is from: Government and Society in Malaysia (Asia, East by South) (Paperback)
This is a very useful overview of Malaysian politics. It contains some interesting perspectives, including the role of businesses and how the NEP reduced the role of FDI. Too bad it's already outdated. It should be useful for researchers seeking to understand Malaysia from the 1970s to 1990s.
