Want some Ohio history with your food?, May 30, 2007
This review is from: Governor's Residence Cookbook (Paperback)
This is like the best church cookbook you could ever hope for. Its pages include governor's residence recipes for everything from the downhome: Helen Rhodes' Ham Loaf to the sophisticated: Grilled Salmon Ribbons with Hot Pepper Peach Compound Butter--all of them meticulously and affectionately tested and reported on by Chef June McCarthy. I especially love the reproductions of the original hand-written recipes and pictures from past Ohio First Ladies. McCarthy's chef's notes are a nice personal touch as well. One thing's for certain: even though Ohio is in the heart of the midwest, its governors aren't limited to meat & potatoes. I'm really looking forward to the Avocado Lobster!
