I love maury yeston's works in musical theater. I brought nine the movie soundtrack five xmas's ago from my mother,i got the new broadway cast recording summers ago & the original broadway cast recording cause i was doing musical theater as my senior project! Also loved his version of phantom of the opera just called Phantom! it's a beautiful score & musical!
I also got tinatic the musical, alot better than the movie version cause it's more real & emontional & last but not least forget Grand Hotel! What a fun musical to listen to!
Goya a life in song was musical about the life of Spanish painter francisco goya. There's also an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti.
The role of goya was sung by tenor/bass Plácido Domingo,The Ducthess of alba by Dionne Warwick,Supporting roles Gloria Estefan & Joseph Cerisano sing Picture it,Richie Havens sings dog in quicksand & Seiko Matsuda singing the role of the maid of New orleans in moving on. The musical was recorded in 1988,released in 1989 as an Lp & cd.
This musical has never been performed since this recording was made & I find it sad. Cause I'm a fan of maury yeston & is one of my top five musical theater composers & he's fourth on my list due to most of his works not being performed in the states along with bernard j taylor. I recommed to people who love yeston's work & fans of musical theater & rarities!
