5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book!, July 24, 2005
This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
Allyn Evans new book `Grab the Queen Power' is a journey of realizations; some self healing and some self nurturing. Her private and personal journal excerpts are the basis of this journey. As women, we all share the same inner wants and desires and that is to be ruler of our domain, to control our emotions and desires, and to achieve excellence in our field of choice. The term Queen is indicative of what those wants and desires portray. Allyn has captured that term and made it a necessity to grab it and use it for ourselves.
What amazed me with this book was that her perceptions and realizations of a southern American background transcend any subculture you will find in the world. All women have an innate role in our society, some harsher than others, and Allyn, while breaking most of those rules by questioning that style of life, finds the core and heart of every woman on this planet and then validates it.
Whether you're a business woman, a mum, an artist or free spirit you will want to have this book in your library as validation for that journey we all take as women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Assume Your Queen Power, September 29, 2005

This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
Hold on to your tiaras, Allyn Mitchell Evans takes you on quite a ride in her new book, "Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life!". Charming, clever and oh, so moving, "Queen Power" is a delightful excursion into the feminine psyche. Socialized to expect second best from childhood, women accept their roles as perpetual cheerleaders rather than push for what they really want - to be a star in their own right.

Ms. Allyn tells you how. From "Stop the Mean Voice" to "Queens Focus", her approach is positive and self managed.

When at last, I finished this book and set it on the shelf, I felt good. I smiled at myself in the mirror and touched up my lipstick before picking up my scepter and going out to ascend my throne in the town square.

This book is a gem for women -- and girls! -- of all ages. It is, quite simply, a guide about how to reclaim your personal power, recognizing how culture and society influence your choices, and learning to live your best life . . . *your* way. Told in a warm, friendly voice like that of a dear friend, and using the Queen archetype as a clever roadmap, Grab the Queen Power will help you claim your own tiara. As Evans says, "It is good to be Queen!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Why be a servant when you were destined to be a queen?, June 8, 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
This is a great book and reading it is like having a private coach. Allyn always roots you on. Basically it is Allyn's story, her personal journey that in fact has universal value. For she tried on many roles, thinking, as we lead ourselves to think, that becoming meant becoming something else than what we are. Since she was in tune with her feelings however, each new attempt of defining herself brought her more unease until she stopped to ask herself what it was she really needed and wanted.

From her outer journey she changed directions and went on an inner one, an archetypal journey you might say. Inspired by many well known self-help and inspirational works, she came to know her own truth. Only when we come to know ourselves can we serve others or function correctly in the world.

Now she was ready for the outside world. Yet none of the functions she had previously tried appealed to her. So she created her own way to serve. And that was, to talk about and encourage others to take similar journeys to create their own rather than scrunch themselves into pre-defined purposes that very often don't fit. We all have our gifts. Learning to identify these and to make the most of them is not always easy in a world that is still heavily reliant on a patriarchal-based system. But Allyn shows us it is possible and necessary.

A refreshing read for anyone. A great graduation gift as if can help young women at this important age make the necessary shift in their thinking to better prepare them to be truly co-creators of their lives and worlds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Empowers Readers Through Experiences, June 5, 2005
This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful example of how we get locked into stereotypes and what to do when we don't fit these stereotypes. Evans encourages independence and self-reliance through her words, examples, and experiences of others. Through her writing, I too have grabbed my own queen power.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Answers, December 15, 2007
This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
This insightful book, Grab the Queen Power, explains women's struggles in a new light, in ways I never thought of before. Allyn Evans shows the indirect paths we follow when we seek to find out who we truly are. Although we are all on "divinely different" paths, all of us seek worth, purpose and fulfillment. She has eloquently expressed this journey in her own life, laying out steps for the rest of us.
Excellent advice and a great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Raising the Scepter of Cultural Change, June 15, 2005
This review is from: Grab the Queen Power: Live Your Best Life! (Paperback)
Grab the Queen Power is a personal, yet universal quest for capturing the divine inner voice we all recognize as children. Author Allyn Mitchell Evans shares a touching, heartfelt story about her journey from self-conscious youth to powerful woman. Using the queen archetype in a richly unique way, Ms. Evans delves deeply into the social mores which kept her in shackles for almost four decades.

Her origins in Mississippi left her questioning why demure, soft-spoken girls got preference over vocal, self-confident ones. Hers is a story not unlike many Southern women who are constrained by convention and the acute suspicion of strong-willed women quickly pigeonholed as a Scarlett O'Hara. While her Southern background might cause some readers to say, "This does not apply to me," they will soon realize their own culturally imposed limitations, chaining them to tradition and a sense of "We cannot change what is so."

Allyn Mitchell Evans challenges each of us to change "what is so" into what is real: our own personal power mixed with a passion to make a difference in our own lives and those of others. If you have ever visited her Web site, www.queenpower.com, you will quickly realize she means what she says. She has not only dedicated the last three years of her life to research this fine book, but she also continues to strive for change in a medium which suits her well - the written word.

I highly recommend Grab the Queen Power to anyone searching for their lost selves. They will soon find them within the pages of her book, tiara and all.
