When the first pack last year didn't work, I figured it was a bad batch so I bought another 10 pack this year for a ski trip.

Thanks to these bad boys, my hands stayed warm the whole time and I never lost feeling of my fingers.

I had originally written a review which for some reason didn't get posted here. Why, I don't know. I told how these warmers never got hot and I was very disappointed. Well, the other day I did a search for something better and I found another site that sells these same warmers. (Their price is a little higher though!) One reviewer wrote that the secret is to not "handle" them. I think because they took so long to warm up, I kept checking and messing with them to see what the problem was. After reading that review, I tried another pair and just left them alone until they got hot. Great!

I also learned another secret: If you don't need them anymore and they still have heat, put them in a zip lock bag and remove all the air. This will preserve them until you need them again. I am now opening them in advance and allowing them to heat up. Then I put them in a zip lock bag and force all the air out. This allows them to heat up a lot faster after I take them out of the bag. I will order these again.

These hand warmers take quite a while to heat up initially. They get hotter than other warmers I've tried, though. They last longer than I ever needed them to. I used mine for college football games.

I found these recent negative reviews while shopping for more of these warmers, having used my last pair today at 1pm in 18 degree weather ( inside mittens ). I played platform tennis for two hours and my hands were so warm I gave one to a friend, and just now when I went to my car to see what expiration date the wrapper had (sadly, the last 2 digits were on the strip that tears away, so I can't tell), my remaining grabber was still warm at 11:20 pm, having sat in the garage (23 degrees) for many hours.
SO: check the date (stamped clearly on the back side of the dual pack wrapper, bottom right)-- it should not be near to 2014. Have Amazon replace them if they are stale ones.
The other thing is, they need to be inside a mitten or glove--the heat they generate has to be trapped between clothing and skin. You wouldn't get a toasty hand just holding one in your naked fingers or whatever.
Mine always heat up within a couple of minutes--but place them in your mittens first to build up the temp quickly.
Finally, it's much easier to keep warm hands warm than to warm up cold hands when you are out; I try to always open mine in the car and slap on the mittens before I go out (I have the coldest hands on the planet, too--that's what usually ends my winter outdoor fun)
Hope that helps (I got my last ones at a local sporting goods store- you can get a single pair at one to see how well they satisfy your individual needs) -

With my team in the NFL payoffs, I knew I'd be sitting in stands freezing my tootsies off. Smart guy that I am, I bought the ten pack of these well-rated delights, and almost suffered frostbite. These miserable little bags of garbage are utterly useless. They did NOTHING! Yes, I used them properly, placed them inside the gloves, put another two in my jacket pockets, and then contemplated fantasies of the painful death of anyone in the advertising department of the miserable company that manufactures this fraud. Nobody should waste their cash on this garbage. The people I went with used all the others in the 10-pack, and all were singing the four-letter-word serenade, so I didn't just happen to have a bad package.

tl,dr - don't buy these, they don't work. They completely and utterly suck.

Out of my pack of 10, 2 of them never got hot. I still hav 4 or 5 left. Lil hotties and Heatmax work better. Heat Max is my choice over all. When they do work they dont have the life like lil hotties or heat Max. Rate, Respond.

Have used the "Grabber" hand warmers before and liked them. I use them on the golf course, and they lasts the entire 18 holes. I bought enough to last the entire winter, and I'll be back for more next year.
