Grace is the curator of Marshfield Manor. There's thievery, murder and relationships in the mystery.
The Marshfield Manor reminds me of the Barnes Foundation are collection when it was located in Merion, PA. Julie Hyzy's writing echoes her amazing research before she writes a book. The book quickly engages you in the first 2 pages as you are inside Grace's head when she is going through different scenarios before responding to Bennett's request to talk.
You start the journey with Grace as she works leave the investigation of thefts to the police only to jump in feet first to find the culprits while trying not to get murdered.
Why did I start this with Ready... Set... Read? I found myself grabbing my Kindle to continue reading the book throughout the day... Grocery Store line... gas station while pumping gas... home when I was supposed to finish working on a project. I read every opportunity that I could because I was riveted. I felt like I was Grace. I loved the town and the people. This is what I like about reading Julie's books - GREAT escapes!
In this book I did figure out who did it. But I have read so many mysteries I think I just have picked up the knack of figuring that out. However that does not make this a bad read. It was a joy to read right up to the last page and I anxiously wait for the next book.
Grace Wheaton is a docent and manager of Marshfield Manor, a home that has been opened to the public for enjoyment of the antiques and treasures collected and displayed within. They are open to individuals and tour groups that have interest. There is a small gift store and restaurant for the customers. Security is good, but, as we know, nothing and no location is one hundred percent secure.
Sadly, Grace and Mr. Marshfield find this out as a guest is pushed down a flight of stairs. As Grace and team speed to the site, we, the readers, quickly find out this crime is far more complex and dangerous than we already know.
Mixed into this spree of felonies is Grace's own heart. More is at stake than just the valuables that are hanging on the Manor's walls. Can Grace life and heart be saved?
This is a terrific series and this book continues the excitement from the first two novels. I highly recommend this book.

excellent story. I love mysteries without tons of characters. Lots of authors like to keep adding characters to throw off the readers of "who did it". Read morePublished 1 month ago by Library Lady
