Book Description

June 1994
The difference grace will make for you.... Grace.. It's a word we all love to hear. But do we all know what it means? Without it, our lives are dry and dusty. But when grace comes, it transforms our lives into something rich and beautiful. With remarkable insight gleaned from his own life, Pastor Chuck Smith unfolds the mystery of grace and reveals the surprising truth: We can never grow in grace by our own efforts. True grace flows from the heart of the Father through the love of Jesus Christ. To know that God is for you, that He loves you, is the greatest source of security you will ever know. That is grace-and that is what makes life worth living.

About the Author

In 1965 Pastor Chuck Smith began his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Only twenty-five people were in attendance. Four decades later he is still at the helm of the ministry. What began as a small chapel has now grown into a church that seats over 2000 and is filled almost nightly. From the beginning, Pastor Chuck has welcomed all young and old without judgment, placing his emphasis on the teaching of the word of God. His simple, yet sound, biblical approach draws 25,000 people weekly. With a sincere concern for the lost, Pastor Chuck made room in his heart and his home for a generation of hippies and surfers; generating a movement of the Holy Spirit that spread from the West Coast to the East, bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ. Included among this new generation of believers were Greg Laurie, Mike MacIntosh, Raul Ries, and Skip Heitzig, and hundreds of others all of whom now have blossoming ministries of their own. Pastor Chuck has continued faithfully through the years, actively involved in every aspect of the ministry. Known for his cheerful enthusiasm, high energy, and unwavering faith, he is well respected throughout the Christian community. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope is why we survive, where do we find hope?, January 18, 1997
By A Customer
The world today can be a very dismal quagmire of lost dreams, well meaning decisions gone wrong, hurt and disaster, but through all this there is hope. Chuck Smith is the senior pastor at the 30,000 member congregation at Calvary Chapel, in Costa Mesa, California. From this church have grown over 1,000 affiliated churches throughout the world, with membership of over 1,000,000. In his book, "Why Grace Changes Everything," Chuck describes , in his typical down to earth approach, the unmerited gift of God to all who ask, called "Grace." Grace is defined (Biblically) in easily understood terms, and how it applies to each of us, with staight forward explanations. The benefits of "Grace" are incredible, but as Chuck explains, it is free and readily available, yet very misunderstood. This book is easy reading, over a cup of coffee with friends, next to a fire place on a rainy day, or on your lunch hour (the respite from a hectic day). It reveals something needed by all, but does not require a Mastercard or Visa. It can be read by teens, with peer pressures, married couples on the brink of divorce, men and women in the twilight of their lives, it will bring hope and contentment to all. There is someone who loves us and cares for us, inspite of what we do, inspite of who or what we are, and He has a gift for you and me, it's free, it's "Grace." The best, and most needful reading experience you can have, "Why Grace Changes Everything," By Chuck Smith.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Christian Books, May 28, 2007
By
I recently purchased 3 copies of this book to give to friends as it is one of my favorites. I plan to buy more and have read my hardbound copy many times. Pastor Smith has a very readable writing style that is not pedantic at all. He explains his own struggles with legalism before he came into a full understanding of God's grace. It is Biblically-based and easy to understand. A good introduction to Christianity for your nonbelieving friends; one of my nonChristian friends read the entire book.

What I particularly love about this book is how it speaks to your heart. This is not a religious tome, but one man speaking to you about God's love and grace. However, he represents the full personality of God, for a person cannot comprehend God's great mercy without understanding our need for redemption.

We should always pray before reading spiritual messages, but if you believe you are struggling with legalism, this book will help free you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent eye opener on the subject of grace., August 17, 1999
By A Customer
I have been in counseling for a few months because of struggling with past hurts. I borrowed this book from a friend and it came at just the right time. I was amazed that God loved me unconditionally. I had always been taught that if you "lived right" the Lord would love you. Amazingly enough He loves me even when I mess up. I am very disappointed that the book is out of print. I wanted my very own copy.
