I've been a fan of Internet Radio for a number of years. The Encore, by Grace Digital is the 5th Internet radio I've owned.

The Encore is physically large; It measures 13.5" wide by 9.5" deep and 5.5" tall. There are 2-forward facing speakers (tweeter/midrange) and a downward facing 4" woofer. That combination in conjunction with a powerful amplifier lets the Encore play loudly.

All the controls are on the top of the radio and a full-featured remote (batteries included) lets you do a lot including giving thumbs-up and thumbs-down ratings for Pandora music. GraceDigital also makes available an app for your smartphone called "GraceRemote." I highly recommend you get this app because it makes controlling the radio very easy and in many ways is superior to using the IR remote because of its graphical and textual nature. Plus you can control multiple Grace Radios from the app.

An easy to use menu system lets you set up lots of customization. For instance, there is an Equalization setting to allow you to select from presets or to adjust bass and treble individually. You can also select your home city, your preference for showing Farenheit or Celsius and more.

Something I find very helpful is the WiFi strength menu. This helps you place the radio in a location that has optimal signal strength and can help you solve buffering issues that may crop up of you have a weak WiFi signal by allowing you to place the radio in another location that allows it to get a stronger signal.

One great feature of this radio for me is Alarms. You can set up to 7 different alarms and can choose as an alarm tone either the built in buzzer that escalates in volume as time goes on, a streaming radio station, or Aux In.

The Grace Digital GDI-IRC7500 "Encore" fits into a category of devices called "Internet radios". And while it it will deliver online audio content, it possesses additional features that earn it the "Wi-Fi music system" name in its product description.

This is an outstanding piece of hardware that does everything right:
-Sound quality
-User interface
-Control choices
-Content input/output options
Any of these by themselves could have resulted in an degraded user experience. That each works at a high level sends the Encore straight into 5-star rating territory.

-Sound quality: sound quality is comparable to similar-sized speaker packages in other desktop playback devices. You will notice significant differences depending on the data rate of the source material (which varies widely among online source materials). MP3 content (local streaming and directly connected via the included RCA adapter) is generally better than streamed sources. With good quality sources, the Encore is will easily fill moderate to large rooms with good, clear, distortion free-sound.

-User interface: a complete home home run! This device can be controlled by either of:
--controls on the Encore top panel
--the remote control
--an Android smartphone (must be operating on the same Wi-Fi network)
The main interface on the top panel is a large control knob that turns to highlight device options, and then pushes to select them, It is accompanied by "Home" and "Back" buttons that make navigation through the options on the 3.5" color front panel display very easy. The remote control duplicates all but the most advanced functions (I would not try to run through network set-up using the remote). The Grage Digital remote for Android devices also works well.

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful By J. Chambers HALL OF FAMETOP 10 REVIEWER on February 6, 2014
A couple of years ago, I reviewed a Grace Digital GDI-IR2600 Wi-Fi Internet Radio (the "Innovator"). It was love at first sight, and my wife and I have gotten a ton of enjoyment from it. But the new GDI-IRC7500 Stereo radio (the "Encore") is even more impressive, and I've spent way too much time this week listening to radio stations from around the world. It's just really cool to be eating lunch while listening to the news on my regular local radio station, then push one of the presets and after a few seconds of buffering the live stream, here's a BBC station with the live traffic report in downtown London. It's very addicting, especially with thousands of radio stations available worldwide.

Setup was simple and only took a few minutes. The 53-page illustrated user's guide is clearly written, and there's a Quick Start guide to get you up and running with the basics. Find your wi-fi from the list of available networks, and click on it, enter your password, and the connection is made. I've never really gotten into Pandora or iHeartRadio, so after setting the time and date, I went straight to Internet Radio and cruised the world's radio stations, searching by location, genre, or college stations. There's also a "Local" selection, and the radio automatically knew where I lived. You can also search for a particular radio station by its call sign. There's even a weather forecast for your town, displayed graphically on the front panel.

The GDI-IRC7500 looks great with its dark wood-grain finish, although it might be a bit too big for the average nightstand. But inside the cabinet is the finest audio system that I've ever heard from a tabletop radio.
