4.0 out of 5 stars A BEAUTIFUL COLLAGE OF UPLIFTING SONGS

With countless hits and sold-out concerts to his credit it was a safe bet that Jim Brickman's latest would be great - and, it is. Described by the gifted. Brickman himself as "a selection of songs that soothe the spirit and nurture the soul," Grace is a beautiful collage of uplifting songs that represent and speak to different faiths.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks like good music but can't get a safe CD.
I just got this CD for Christmas, and it looks really wonderful. But be forewarned. It has the Sunncomm software embedded on it. Sony and BMG have trade-in programs for their bad CDs, but it looks like Windham Hill doesn't have a trade-in deal to replace these infected CDs.

4.0 out of 5 stars A BEAUTIFUL COLLAGE OF UPLIFTING SONGS, May 6, 2005
This review is from: Grace (Audio CD)

With countless hits and sold-out concerts to his credit it was a safe bet that Jim Brickman's latest would be great - and, it is. Described by the gifted. Brickman himself as "a selection of songs that soothe the spirit and nurture the soul," Grace is a beautiful collage of uplifting songs that represent and speak to different faiths.

Baritone Mario Frangoulis (heard during one of Brickman's recent concert tours) offers a lyrical adaptation of "Ave Maria" that is sure to touch hearts, while Brickman himself soars with an interpretation of the Hebrew prayer Ayn Kaylohenu.

Michael Bolton's powerful rendition of Brickman's original composition "Hear Me" is incredibly moving. The voice of singer/songwriter Ginny Owens brings new meaning to the beloved "Amazing Grace."

All in all Grace is bound to be another chart-topper for Brickman, and a warm, positive, enriching listen for all.

5.0 out of 5 stars For The Piano Lover !, August 7, 2005

Oh, Wow!
This is a cd that will be liked by all who enjoy George Winston, Mehdi, Danny Wright, Keiko Matsui, or even David lanz. It is the very essence of good new age. So tranquil, yet so spirited, this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed!
It reminds me somewhat of Kevin Kern, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well.

ALSO RECOMMENDED: Mehdi ~ Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 ..Truly a Gem...Samples are at SoothingMusic,Com...Just Listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Gem!, May 1, 2005
This review is from: Grace (Audio CD)
Jim Brickman is one pianist that sets himself apart from all other pianists by somehow creating music that clearly defines that it is he at the keyboards. The only other pianists that I feel do that are Ronnie Aldrich, Andre Previn and believe it or not, Floyd Kramer. This particular CD cannot be considered his best because in my opinion they are all his best and this is certainly no exception. It is very soothing music. I would highly recommend it to anyone who like Jim Brickman or fine music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grace-full, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Grace (Audio CD)
Though Mr. Brickman is on a "New Age" label he has never pegged himself as a "New Age" artist.
His previous CDs have had songs that charted in AC, Country and Christian genres........music knows no boundaries.
"Grace" is in keeping with the hopeful inspirational feel of his other CDs. People change;artists grow. Mr. Brickman is doing what he is good at:writing songs deep within him.
From the soothing instrumental of "Heaven" to Michael Bolton powerfully singing "Hear Me (Tears Into Wine)", I found this CD a welcome relief........
Write on Jim Brickman!!!

Finally nice transcriptions of hymns!! Grace is a great buy all the way. (The DRM restrictions are a little extreme). From the traditional 'Amazing Grace' to the contemporary 'Be Thou Near To Me' Brickman fans won't be disapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another GREAT one., May 1, 2005

I have to admit, even though I'm a Brickman fan, I wasn't sure the "inspirational" aspect of this record was for me. That is until the music completely won me over. Ginny Owen's vocal performance is truly magical. And who knew Michael Bolton could still deliver on what will surely be a HUGE hit for Jim. Speaking of Jim, he shows great restraint on the hymn pieces and the pop stuff is catchy and original. I especially like the "Be Thou Near To Me" track--it sounds like a traditional hymn but done in a modern way. Buy this record--you'll be glad you did. (Maybe even inspired).

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful surprise!, July 16, 2005
This review is from: Grace (Audio CD)
I am a long-time Jim Brickman fan, who has bought every CD he's ever come out with. Some of them took me a while to find, but I have them all. I saw this new release on his website, and was disappointed, and had not planned on buying it, since I'm not really into hymns. But...I ran across it and bought it, and I am so glad I did. It's simply gorgeous. I can see this disc destined to become one of my favorites very quickly. I love every track, and I guess I should have known that Jim could breathe new life into even very tired hymns. I'm very pleasantly surprised...Accolades again to Jim!

5.0 out of 5 stars JIM'S BACK ON FORM, June 8, 2005

After two rather disappointing recent albums ('Peace' and 'Love Songs & Lullabies'), Jim's back on form. In my opinion this is his strongest cd since 'Picture This' which contained the smash hit 'Valentine'.

The choice of traditional and original compositions, interesting arrangements, and strong vocal collaborations are what set this collection apart.Stand out tracks include duets with Selah and Ginny Owens plus instrumentals such as 'Israel' and 'Holy,Holy,Holy'.

Hopefully Jim will continue with more inspired collaborations on his forthcoming 'Disney Songs' project. More Olivia Newton John, Collin Raye or Roch Voisine would be welcome plus perhaps a duet with christian music group Avalon or ex - Chicago frontman Peter Cetera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jim's Best to Date, May 1, 2005
This review is from: Grace (Audio CD)
"Hear Me" is amazing--his best song ever. The whole album is great. Even if you thought you don't like hymns--as many of these songs are--Jim's renditions are so original they take on a whole new vitality. It's no accident these songs have lasted (in some cases) hundreds of years--they have a timeless ability to inspire. As apparently, does Jim.
