Grace Plus Nothing Spells It All Out!,
By mpearre@alston.com (Charlotte, North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grace Plus Nothing (Paperback)
I am reading this book for the second time and it is powerful. It sheds light on the difference between grace justification versus works justification. It is divided into 123 short daily readings that are illustrated with wonderful anecdotes. The author bares his soul as he prompts us to do also, in seeking a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This book changed my life dramatically as it helped me to understand the truth of grace and the futility of seeking justification through works. Try it, I think you'll like it.

If you don't understand Grace, you don't understand the Bible. Grace Pluse Nothing opened my eyes to what the Law was and what Grace is. We say with our mouth's we believe in Grace but with our actions we demonstrate the LAW. This book will help. It works! Bob Coker, Canton, Illinois

God's Grace bestowed in a personal way,
By John L. Hoh Jr. "Author and Theologian" (Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Grace Plus Nothing (Paperback)
The Lutheran theologians stated in the 1500's, "sola gratia"--"by Grace Alone." Just what exactly did that mean? Many books have been written on this subject--the most famous being Walther's "The Proper Distinction Between Law and Gospel." Jeff Harken's book makes God's Grace personal, he shows how it impacts your daily life as well as your eternal life. The chapters are set up so that the book makes a perfect devotional book--as well as an ideal "stocking stuffer."

Amazing book,
This review is from: Grace Plus Nothing (Paperback)
This book outlines the Christian walk the way that many others do not. Many books will tell you that you must "spend quiet time with God every day", "be broken before the Lord every day", and "be in continual repentance". And though those things are good, they are NOT what gets you closest to God. The wonderful key here is that you accept the grace of God no matter where you're at.
Grace Plus Nothing tells us that in order to walk strong in the Christian faith, we need to take Daddy's hand and walk with Him, not to Him. This book has helped me realize (along with the Bible) that no matter where I'm at, or how I fall, if I learn to put my faith in the grace of God, I will never incur ungodly guilt again. And you know what? I'm beginning to hear the Holy Spirit conviction louder now, and it's comforting. Rather than, "DON'T DO THAT!", it's like... "Jared, I can be enough for you". So I encourage you, if you are struggling with condemnation or guilt, or perhaps you feel bad for not being "spiritual" enough, or "holy" enough - DON'T FEAR! This book is a great training tool in allowing you to hear the Shepherd's voice, and to be led in love, not in fear of punishment or doubt.

I wish this book was still in print. It is, next to The Complete Green Letters, by Miles J. Standford; my favorite dealing with the grace of God in Jesus Christ. Harkin not only does a wonderful job explaining basic biblical truths in everyday language, he does it in bite sized pieces! This book is a must!
