About the Author
Born on Anglesey, a remote Welsh Island, in 1941, Grace Coddington won the junior section of the British Vogue Model Competition at age 18 and spent her twenties living the life of a cover girl. In 1968 she joined British Vogue
as a junior fashion editor under Beatrix Miller, later becoming Fashion Director in 1986. In 1987 she spent a brief stint as Design Director at Calvin Klein, and joined American Vogue
the very next year as Fashion Director. She was made Creative Director in 1995, a position she still holds. In 1993, Coddington was the subject of the retrospective show Short Stories
, the first ever from a fashion editor's perspective.
