What a wonderful story! I'm so glad the movie is about to come out because I hope everyone who sees it is inspired as I was! God never lets us go and we need to own that truth. Awesome, well written, timely, and inspiring book!

About Grace Unplugged:

Grace Trey is an eighteen-year-old singer as passionate about her Christian faith as she is her phenomenal, God-given musical talent. Both traits come from her father, one-hit wonder Johnny Tray who found Jesus after losing his chart success two decades ago.

When Grace encounters her own music break of a lifetime, the sudden dive into the "real world" puts her deeper beliefs to the test. Pop superstardom is just within reach but appears to require some spiritual compromise. Will Grace reject her faith, or will she own it?

Grace Unplugged is based on the motion picture of the same name starring AJ Michalka (Super 8) and Kevin Pollak (A Few Good Men).

My Thoughts:

Grace Trey is just like any other young girl. She sees her dreams ahead of her and she is ready, willing and able to just reach out and grab it. But another thing I noticed about her was that she kind of doesn't think her parents have really "been there and done that". Which that in itself is not a good sign for a girl ready to jump out and capture the world that is just out of her reach. So join us as we take a journey with her through the "hard knocks" of her life to see what happens to this young girl and her dreams.

This book is being turned into a movie that will premier on October 4, 2013.

**Disclosure** These books were sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Flyby Promotions.

Reading is such a wonderful gift, and lately I have begun to appreciate it especially when I just finished with the latest work of fiction. Grace Unplugged is not just a novel, but a soon to be released movie based on the novel plus the nonfiction book Own It written by a different author. While some may not know how these books are tied together, once you read them you'll appreciate the message in both.
Many people want to seek the things of this world that they believe will make them happy once they have obtained them. For some it is a certain amount of money, others success in their career, and there are a host of other goals earnestly sought with one's whole being. In this novel, Grace believes that no one understands her desire to be free from her parents "control" and be a rock star. Never wondering who she was doing it for, one night she leaves quietly with only a note for her parents to find.
The perceived glamour, tours, meeting with other established stars begins to cause Grace to start down the slippery slope she heard her father once describing. However, she never believed her dad and couldn't understand that when her fame began to grow so did the restlessness of her heart. Meeting an intern working at the same music company was more than a coincidence that Grace will begin to see in the days ahead.
With an open heart, I ask that you read both Own It and Grace Unplugged along with the thought of others who might be touched by reading them as well. There is a strong message in both books calling all people to look to Who they are living for and serving with the life God has given to them! I can say both books will remain in my personal library for times of encouragement or reminders.

I had heard of Grace Unplugged while reading a blog post of a blogger I follow. When I heard that the book was being made into a movie, I thought I would like to read the book. With my crazy school schedule, I didn't know if I would have the time to read the book, so I decided to skip reading it. When I was offered the chance to review the audiobook of Grace Unplugged, however, I jumped at the chance and I am glad I did!

From the start of this book, I was hooked. The story is about Grace, who is the daughter of a worship pastor. The two play on stage together and lead worship together. Grace does not always agree with her fathers's style of playing, so she decides to change it on her own while playing. This obviously causes problems between Grace and her father. Grace feels her father is holding her back from her dreams and decides to set out and chase them.

This story took me on the adventure of following Grace as she followed her dreams. The story felt real and I could sense what Grace was going through throughout the story. I eagerly listened to this story waiting to find out what would happen.

The narration of the story was well done. I usually prefer to have the author read the book because I think they add something to the story. I was surprised at how well I was transported into this story since the author did not read it.

I am really glad I got the chance to read, or listen, to this book. I am glad I did not miss out on the opportunity of hearing this enjoyable story. I enjoyed the book so much that I would like to see the movie sometime as well.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the christianaudio Reviewers Program in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
