Unholy, from Finland, formed in 1988 and were among the first doom metal bands from the country. In the bands earlier years, starting under the moniker of Holy Hell, their style began as more a black/death/doom metal mix but progressed to a style of atmospheric, experimental doom metal. 'Gracefallen' was the bands fourth and final album, and was originally released in 1999. 'Gracefallen' contains the trademark heavy, slow and often unusual Unholy arrangements and heavy guitar. This edition of 'Gracefallen' also includes a rare bonus track called 'Gone', recorded prior to the album. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

while spending holiday in sweden with my great friend jonas, i had the opportunity to see and do a many interesting thing. included in such an adventure was the sights of the wonderful city of mariestad, djupneskar, orange horses, snaps, ham and cheese in a tube and mora the home of the largest cross country skiing venue in the world. i was also able to take in the sounds of some wonderful music - that is unholy. while driving somewhere (perhaps filipstad) we heard the gracious sounds of the song "daybreak". the song has the melodic singing voice of muhli that really inspired me to purchase the cd "gracefallen". for the most part the music is extremely well done. those songs led by muhli are spectacular. it is kind of a cross between enya and metallica or tool. the only reason why i did not give the cd a five star rating: those songs sung by muhli's male counterparts. that notwithstanding, this band has created a very worthwhile cd. one great way to remember an astounding trip to sweden.

slow and heavy not to mention depressing everything the doom death scene should ask for .. some of the lyrics are good some are just stupid. i can work around all that though most of it you cant understand anyhow.you cant expect a bunch of sweeds or whatever they are (nordic) to be real good with english words...

female vocals give them a little more depth in the department of singing she istnt bad either.. i wanted to review the rapture cd but it appears they didnt have it...all the others are pretty good to but rapture i think has some of the raw (recording after a long break up)talent shining through the 80 day production..if you like slow death ,something that creeps pick any unholy cd .. and if you really like the slow parts check out disembowelment
