I thoroughly enjoyed Graceland. It is sweet and light hearted all at the same time. The characters are rich and well defined for a one act play.
Great play!

Not as simple as it seems,

If you're familiar with this set of plays, it's probably through Graceland, which is how I came to be familiar with it. But the strength in the pair is "Asleep on the Wind", the heart-wrenching tale of Rudie and her beloved brother Beau. Rudie and Beau have a special place in the woods that is their place. They have a beautiful bond as brother and sister. It is here where Beau breaks Rudie's heart and sends her down the path that ends up at the front gates of Graceland.
I directed this piece in college, and it was an honor to bring this playwright's work to life. If you are looking for a good two-person vehicle that will leave the audience breathless and changed, this is the play that will do it. It's a challenging piece, but it's a must-read. |
